Bates and neutral colors?
When I posted that Bates wore non-ISU gear to the Nebraska game, everyone thought I was crazy and making a mountain out of a mole hill. In light of recent events (hindsight is always 20/20), was this a sign?
Re: Bates and neutral colors?
No, it meant that he was at a football game for another school and didn't want to wear the colors.

He will not sign with the Big Red or any other Big 12 school. If he does he losses a year of eligibility & has to sit out a year. That would be taking a pretty big chance to step in & play only one more year at the college level .
Re: Bates and neutral colors?
Given that he wants to go to NU, I think it was a bright, flashing, neon sign.

Given he just quit his team at not even the midway point of the season, I wouldn't put it past him or Sr.
They haven't demonstrated an ability to make good decisions lately....
Re: Bates and neutral colors?
Dad's 401k is tanking need to get Jr to the NFL no matter how bad the choices look to everyone else!
Re: Bates and neutral colors?
He would be not smart going to another big12 school Doesnt' make sense. He will probably end up at some off the wall place that truely needs a QB.
Re: Bates and neutral colors?
No one knows what happened on that trip, so the fact that he wore neutral colors may or may not be a sign. However, the people that claimed that it was ridiculous to discuss whether Bates would transfer or not were a little off-base -- especially considering he decided to do it mid-season.
Re: Bates and neutral colors?
If he goes to Nebraska, he will do it on his dollar. You cannot transfer within the conference and accept scholarships.

If he transfers directly to NU, this is true.
But there is nothing stopping him from going to a JC, even starting in December, and earning an AA degree next year.
If he does not play FB at the JC, he can then transfer to NU and have 2 to play 2, and still be within his 5 to play 4 since he never redshirted.

I was just thinking about that JC option as well....

probably meant he didn't want stuff thrown at him.
