Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
I support AA 100% But its time for him to start winning. Time for him to be a leader, he won the spot, he needs to pick it up now.
If there is one thing that i do not like about AA most, He is not a consistant leader, He became vocal and did his thing at UNLV, but that has been gone ever since. This offense needs someone in the huddle to keep them in it, keep them going.
I realize we cant throw him under the bus yet, I realize that his guys around him arent playing the best. But passing the ball is easy. and we didnt run enough quick slants last night, thats about the only rout that works for us. We have a good group of recievers, and i agree the play calling was bad last night. But wow...

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
I didn't like playing PB last year and I would really be disappointed if we play JT this year. We need to create separation between the classes. Last thing we need is to have JT leave in the middle of next season because (a) he doesn't win the starting job; (b) he is only one class behind AA and (c) he doesn't want to risk everything with only one season to play after AA graduates.

Your post is incredibly off base I don't know where to start.
From everything I have heard, AA is a great leader, a great teammate. When you were all over Bates being the QB during preseason, I kept hearing how much better AA looked than him. One player told me there was no controversy and that AA was much better.
And since when is throwing easy? And is really that easy when you don't have open WR's to throw to? You have to have seperation. We had none against a bad Baylor Defense

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
Six penalties on one drive will kinda make it hard to win.
I literally saw some linemen (on the right side) give up mid-play. They had a really good replay of it. That about made me sick.

Clearly it's a different issue if someone wants to be Eric Crouch with 35+ carries, but I see no problem with 10-15 designed carries in addition to a few scrambles in response to break downs in protection.

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
We cant accept mediocre play at any position, and ALL im saying is that Austen didnt look good at all last night, Im not saying he wont come throw for 300 yards next week against NU. He very well has the capability to do that. But he has to improve in certain areas to be his best, and i dont know why your argueing with me about my opinion.
Yes, i liked Bates potential
Yes, ive heard countless times that our best QB is red shirting this year.
Does it matter at this point? no
We are on a 4 game losing streak. Un acceptable.

We are on a 4 game losing streak. Un acceptable. I agree with you on most of these things 33. My beef, I guess you could say, is that we have TONS of issues on this football team, and you seem to be throwing it all on AA. To me, it seems as if you don't like him.
Losing to Iowa and UNLV was unacceptable. Blowing a 20 point lead was unacceptable. Losing to Baylor was not, it was HOW we lost to Baylor. Playing with no emotion is unacceptable. So I agree with you that a 4 game losing streak is unacceptable

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
I'm trying to decide which is worse... the fact that people blame our loss last night on Mac leaving the cupboards bare or that people are throwing AA under the bus for one game, the result of which was by far not (entirely) his fault.
AA didn't let Baylor run right through him, AA didn't tackle a punt returner a second or two before the ball got to him, AA didn't get 2 or 3 false starts.
Props for atleast discussing something that is moving forward, rather than arguing about events from 2 years in the past
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
Im not putting this on AA, Definately put it on everyone and the coaching staff.
I dunno, but i am excited for next saturday, You should see the guys eyes light up when you mention coming back to JTS, they love it here and have so much fun. I think we will look much better next weekend, being at home and with an embarassing loss to encourage a victory.
Infact, i cant wait, because i know this weekend will be something special. Its a feeling i only get when i know somethings going to change, I can feel it, i can see it in guys emotions, and im ready to get this thing in the right direction.

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
I think a lot of our problems would be solved by improving our OL and DL. You'd probably be amazed at how much better our QB and RB would look.
Not to start throwing out comparisons, but a Ricky Stanzi led team just dominated an opponent on the road, and if any of you saw the game, you know that it wasn't because of QB play.

Re: Is it "Tiller-time" for Iowa State?
Baylor knew what we were going to do when the O lined up. Formations need to be changed around a bit to keep the D honest. Even Seneca Wallace struggled when the team ran the same play over and over out of the same set.

And just because i responded to this thread, doesnt mean i think its "tiller time"
I just chimed in because i learned that Austen hurt his arm during the game, and Tiller was told to warm up.
