Re: Official ISU-Nebraska Post Game Thread
I just don't understand how we can give up so many receiving yards each game when our defensive backs are "supposed" to be the best part of the defense... Are our dbacks not good and fast enough to play man coverage? I believe we play too much zone and give way too much cushion. We need a running game. We wont' get a running game until we get an offesive line that has expereince, and hopefully in time they will be able to gel together and get things done. Its just hard to see opposing quarterbacks throw the ball all over the field to wide open recievers. Today could have been alot worse. Being at the game, there were quite a few times where Nebraska had a wide open reciever but elected to throw it elseware. Its just fustrating watching this, but I am used to it as I am sure all the rest of you people are. Texas A&M doesn't look like a sure win anymore, especially after they beat Texas Tech today.
BTW, as I was sitting in the edzone, I was sure that fumble by the tight end was out of bounds. Clearly looked like the ball was in the white. I think that could have been a game changer. Thats just another "what if".

I thought we'd beat A&M, but anyone who thinks we have a "sure win" on our schedule hasn't been watching this team, regardless of who A&M won or lost to.

Re: Official ISU-Nebraska Post Game Thread
Having had a little time to think about it, I'm not as disappointed as my initial reaction. With the exception of Baylor which was just aweful, we have went into the 4th quarter with a reasonable chance of wining every other game. A combination of poor execution and youth have gotten the best of us late in the games.
Yes, were bad right now but we're not without hope.....

It's easy to talk about McCarney's "poor recruits." Give me some names as examples... Let's see...
Chizik's first class was put together in something like 3 months because of when he was hired.
This class may be low ranking, but the jury's still out on the quality of the class.
As far as McCarney's poor recruits, Jason Scales, is certainly one that comes to mind.

Funny how Chizik says that from the beginning and fans were okay with it back then, but 1.5 years into his tenure some fans are already looking for the replacement.

I think there is a difference between expecting wins/championships and expecting improvement. I can live with losses, just not the extremely poor efforts we've seen the past two weeks.
I'm not calling for his job, but I would like to see more fire and passion that leads to improvement. I don't think this coaching staff is performing at a high level right now, I hope that changes.

Re: Official ISU-Nebraska Post Game Thread
atlanta cyclone is absolutely way off base. chizik is the man. the problem is, one is only as good as the people he surrounds himself with, and bolt and macfarland are probably not the right people for the job. im sure they are both stand-up gentlemen, but the 3 yd slants irked me, and so did bolt blitzing on 3d and long when our d cant even cover a pass as it is, and hes taking away from coverage. then, ontop of that, he blitzes right into an obvious screen. any wise d-coordinator knew they were going to throw a screen, whether it be a bubble screen, rocket screen, or halfback screen. bleh.

Re: Official ISU-Nebraska Post Game Thread
I could only read about 40 posts before I saw enough. All I can say is that there are way too many whiners here.
We're a young football team in desperate need of athletes. The biggest difference I can see between our team and the other ones in the conference is that when our players are put into one on one situations, we normally get beat. All the coaching in the world will not make up for a lack of talent. The talent situation will take time, and Chizik is the right guy for the job. Yeah it sucks to watch, but as a resident of Ames, I can tell you that based on my interactions with his players, they are courteous and polite.
The foundation is being laid. Have some damn patience. The cupboards were less than bare when he came to town.
