Anger is good...
An apathetic fan base is the worst possible thing that can happen. We've been there before with Walden.
I'm glad that many people, including myself, are ticked about how the season is going.
I'm glad that many expect and demand more.
I've been apathetic about the Clones before and it sucked. I'm not going to let myself go there any longer.
If people want to vent, ****, moan, I say let them (us). It shows that we care and believe it's possible to put a good and winning product on the field. It shows that people think that a coach should be able to show improvement throughout the season and end up having a winning program.
When it doesn't appear to be happening, people should be angry.

Re: Anger is good...
we have not had a good football team for 8 years.... I am trying to patient.
I am just ticked about how things are going down the last few weeks.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Calling for a new head coach 1.5 years into his tenure isn't.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Re: Anger is good...
Unfortunately there's a very good chance we don't win another game all year. Then the apathy comes, which will be reflected in next year's ticket sales. I will still buy 4 season tix, but I know there will be much less excitement, and then much less anger if we fall flat on our faces again.

Pollard will have to really earn his pay selling tickets next year. He has been selling nothing put hope the last few years and he has really been doing a good job. I know that he really cares and i wish the results would start backing up his plans.

Re: Anger is good...
There is no doubt that Pollard will enter a 2nd phase of his position beginning this offseason in both football and basketball.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

Iowa is likely going to be in a January bowl this year (sarcasm) and will be in the national championship hunt again next year (more sarcasm).

Of course JP does not have much to do with the results of the competitions on the fields and court...but he is the man who hired the two coaches that have everything to do with the results on the fields and court! I know it is too early to judge our football program...but it is getting very close where we should be able to make a fair judgment on our basketball program. JP can't be too excited about the progress of either program. How could he? I just have trouble believing that JP envisioned the lack of progress in either program at this point? Again, I understand how early it is in the rebuilding of the football program but this season has not been what any of us had hoped for...even those with low expectations!

His grade is incomplete at this point but if anyone tells you that his "grade-in-progress" is a B or above is drinking the kool-aid! The only points that JP has earned to this point is the effort to build better facilities for our athletic programs.

Re: Anger is good...
We've been to three bowl games in the past 8 years. By ISU standards that is pretty good.

We've been to 3 basketball tournaments (1 NCAA, 2 NIT's) in the last 8 years as well. The problem Pollard has is that he fired the coaching staffs to took us to those bowl games and tournaments and replaced them with coaches who have taken us nowhere.
How is he going to continue to raise ticket prices, ask for bigger donations, and expect to sell more tickets at the rate he's going? Maybe he has a plan, or maybe he will bail for the first job opening that comes along. We will know we're in trouble if that happens.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -
Re: Anger is good...
If being to three bowl games out of eight is good, I am sorry that is sad this is the attitude I do not want to live with anymore as a cyclone fan especially when ticket sales go up and the winnings go down.
