We are starting 3 freshman on defense and have a total of 9 that are getting significant playing time on the 2 sides of the ball. We continue to get better each week but our defense is still awful. If Iowa state can run the ball, and connect on screen passes then it could be another long day for us.
I do not know if we know what a screen pass is for our group. If you had 417 yards passing, you must know how to pass the ball real well. When you work against our pass defense, BEWARE, we have the whole secondary under control.

I agree. Tell your coaches that they don't even have to watch film, just don't try to pass on us. We don't give up much through the air. Run the ball, keep the game as short as possible.

Jerrod Johnson has proven that he is the starter the rest of the year. He began as the backup but when mcgee got hurt filled in nicely. This past week he took a cheapshot and came out of the game for 2 plays in which mcgee threw a TD pass but came back in. Goodson is our best back, but we haven't run the ball much because our Oline isn't good. People here aren't real sure what the deal with Jorvorskie is, except the fact that he was supposed to lose weight this summer and didn't do it. He was moved to fullback in the spring. You won't have to be worried about him. The complete mentality has gone to the passing game. Tech shut it down in the second half, but the main reason we lost is because we couldn't convert when we needed to. We were up 23-20 at the half, tech scored on their first drive of the second half and then we fumbled the kickoff. We will be throwing the ball again this week. Our problem on defense is inexperience. We are young on that side of the ball. Our run defense is atrocious and we haven't been able to cover a screen pass in any of our games. Arkansas state, Miami, Ok state, K state, and tech all killed us on these plays. We give up a first down almost every time a WR screen is run. Should be an interesting game this week. In aggieland we are hoping this past weeks performance is the turning point in the program. It would be nice to come into ames and win then follow up with a victory at home against colorado before we play oklahoma. But we could easily the remainder of our games. Its hard to judge our team.
Re: The Toilet Bowl: ISU vs. A&M
My loyalties are split this week. I want sedrick johnson to score 2 td's and have 100 yards receiving, but a&m to get the win. I know that if he does that though, it will be tough for us to win the game. I know that when he decided to go to iowa state over a&m he was concerned about a&m not passing the ball. I sure wish he was here now though. We would be loaded at the receiver position for the next 4 year, our 2 best are freshman.
Re: The Toilet Bowl: ISU vs. A&M
13, you do not have to worry about wide receiver screens from us. Every time we run it, our receiver runs into his own blocker and falls down for a loss of 1 yard. Every time a team runs it against us, it is a gain of 15+. A good way to describe ISU's offense:
"Two no-shows and one sick triceratops."
Re: The Toilet Bowl: ISU vs. A&M
Yeah i haven't seen the cyclones play this year, but I talk to sedrick each week. He said that the past couple the offense hasn't been able to get anything going and that the defense is playing good, but that the offense is leaving them in bad situations, whether its short field position or not giving them enough rest. I wouldn't be surprised if ISU runs a few more screens this week after they watch our film. Also, the run game will be big this week for the cyclones. Chizik is going to try to establish the run early because we can't stop it, then he will mix in the PA and screens. The key for us aggies is to try to stop the run which we aren't very successful at doing. The main reason we could stop tech is because we knew they were throwing it every down (56 attempts in the game).
