Opening Line: 3-point favorites vs. aTm
They are giving us the home-team FG in an apparent toss-up. PinnacleSports - a smarter way to bet -

You've got to be kidding me...

Re: Opening Line: 3-point favorites vs. aTm
Why not? aTm shares our 2-5 record, and they have looked just as pathetic as us.

When was the last time we were favored at home against a Big 12 south team?

Re: Opening Line: 3-point favorites vs. aTm
I haven't seen A&M play but I have read recaps of their games and I have to say that they seem to have shown a little more life than we have, even though they've lost the games.
I see this game as a draw with both teams really just trying to stop the water from taking over the ship. Neither team has really found itself and neither is living up to their talent - albeit young and not uniform in all positions.
I'm staying far away from betting on this one.

I might put 700K on the Aggies. That is my gut feeling right now.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Yup, we were favored in the '05 Baylor game. And we all know how that one turned out...

Re: Opening Line: 3-point favorites vs. aTm
Believe it or not ISU's straight up record against South teams as a favorite is 7-1.
2005 vs. Okie State -13.5 won 37-10
2005 vs. Baylor -7.5 lost 23-13
2004 @ Baylor -7.5 won 26-25
2002 vs. Tech -6.5 won 31-17
2001 vs. Baylor -14 won 41-0
2001 vs. Okie State -8.5 won 28-14
2000 vs. Baylor -14.5 won 31-17
2000 vs. Okie State -6 won 33-26
This means a few things: 1. ISU has actually defeated teams historically they are supposed to beat in Big 12 conference play. In fact they are 15-4 all time as favorites in the Big 12. However, the losses were especially painful. They are the aforementioned Baylor loss in '05. The Kansas OT loss in '05. The Mizzou OT loss in '04. And a loss to Colorado in '99 which actually hurt ISU's "supposed" bowl chances at the time.
2. ISU, in 12 years of the conference, has been favored only 19 times in just over 100 games. You can do the math. Not good. But..interesting nonetheless.

Re: Opening Line: 3-point favorites vs. aTm
The problem is that we're rarely favored and it's only at home - that right there tells you we're pretty much the bottom feeder now that we've officially regressed past Baylor.

Re: Opening Line: 3-point favorites vs. aTm
If we can't beat A&M, we will likely go 0-fer in the conference. They are really bad but so are we. But at least they put up some points in their losses recently.
