Cyclones get commitment from Jacques Washington
Scout.com: Washington Happy To Be The Newest Cyclone
Hope this kid shores up some of our problems in the secondary.

Re: Cyclones get commitment from Jacques Washington
On the one hand, I'll happily welcome him. One the other, even after watching the video, I'll guess that he's one of the bigger mysteries of the class.

Re: Cyclones get commitment from Jacques Washington
If he is really 6 foot 1 and 185 pounds, he is as big bigger than a few of the guys that will play in the secondary this Saturday.

Based on this year's freshman, I trust Chizik.

I'll agree, he is kind of a mystery due to the fact that he's playing RB and Chizik wants him at CB. But Leonard Johnson was playing offense too and he is one of the best players ISU puts on the field every Saturday. One thing that I am not worried about is this staff's ability to spot talent. Another class like 2008 and we're really going to have to be concerned with Bill Snyder-esque vultures coming in on our commits.

My grandson goes to this High School and says that Washington plays DB as well as RB and makes tackles all over the field. Considered one of the best players in the Tulsa metro.. A good get by GC.. -

One my left hand, it says welcome to the Cyclone Family Jacques. You made an excellent decision.
The other hand says no need to watch video and trust Chizik and his staff based on the talent they brought in last year. However, there is a disclaimer right above the wrist that says to "Check back next Fall though as Chizik's staff only has one recruiting class to base this trust on." -

See, part of the "mystery" for me was that LJ's highlight video showed lots of breakaway plays on offense. Jacques "free" video is a collection of 10-15 yard runs...I kept waiting to see him break one, and it never happened.
However, what I did see as he made his cuts was that though he seemed long and lean, he also seemed to be agile, athletic and quick, to have good hips--even if he was running into a swarm. I'm expecting it's that athleticism that Chizik and staff see, and I'll just hope that he's got the makeup speed for a Big XII defensive back--or that he can attain it while he's here. After all, when Bob Sanders entered Iowa, his forty time was in the 4.6's, and it had dropped to the low 4.4's by the time he graduated.
But then, I trust GC (and his two classes thus far), and at this stage, I'll just hope Jacques doesn't blow up so that everyone in the country rushes in with an offer when January rolls around. -
Re: Cyclones get commitment from Jacques Washington
Most people don't consider his first class a true class since he was only here 2 months for that class.

Re: Cyclones get commitment from Jacques Washington
Looks like a sleeper. If there is one area this staff has won me over completely, it is recruiting and evaluating talent.
When it comes to recruiting, they had me at 'hello'. *tear*

Yes, and I'd take exception to that, because he got the likes of Cameron Bell, Keleche Osemele and Trey Baysinger in entirely on his own merit in that two months, and not as holdovers from Mac's commitments. No rationalizing required, he did a nice job on his actual first class.

Re: Cyclones get commitment from Jacques Washington
Hope he is good. We need some players that know and "want" to win.
