I am not a D-MAC fan. I stopped going to games when he wasn't fired after the 2-10 season. I am not a Chizik fan either. I am an ISU fan, and I want these student athletes play with heart. I want my money to be better spent with better coaches.

If we are going to compare Chizik to anyone it should be to Brian Kelly, Tim Brewster, and anyone else on the short list.
I'm not saying this to be against Chizik but does anyone else think its a kick in the groin that Kelly is 5-2 at Cinnci and Brewster is 6-1 and ranked at Minnesota?
Just to clarify, Brewster is 7-1 at Minn.
Re: Coach Chizik vs Coach Mac
What would the season ticket sales been in 2007 and 2008 had Mac not been let go? People had lost hope, it's a fact. Has it worked out, no. Let's see what happens in 2009. My only problem is I think Pollard (or whoever) made a HUGE mistake by scheduling Utah and UConn when we already play Iowa in non-conference. In those years we also have Texas, Okla, & Tech. Good way to build a program.

Who would have thought we would win less games in 08 than in 07? Coach Mac actually had a higher percentage of Win in his first two years at ISU. Its going downhill folks, Where are all those colorful emails from Jamie Pollard these days? I don't see him talking to the fans any more.
lol, I'll take the stance that had we had another game in those first tow years, we'd have won no more. I do like the way you pulled the percentages out though. Really makes the 3-9 and 2-9 sound a lot better since it's a higher percentage than Chizik. What if we win another game though? That will kind of **** on your argument, won't it?
Re: Coach Chizik vs Coach Mac
The biggest thing to me in Mac's early years was we we had an identity; even through all the losses, we were a running team with Troy Davis, then others. You may beat us, but we are going to run the ball on you. Mac was building a foundation, and fans could see it.
We don't have any kind of identity now.

That is a little painful. Does anyone know enough to compare those two to our situation and how we were fixed talent wise?

How is Harbaugh doing?
Re: Coach Chizik vs Coach Mac
oh geez...here we go. Of to lala land. Is it basketball season yet? Oh wait then we can hear about how bad of a coach McD is.
Re: Coach Chizik vs Coach Mac
The $50,000 question, how many years do you give Chizik given the poor team that has been on the field the last 2 years?

The one good team the Gophers played beat them. Those 7 teams Minny defeated have a combined 24 wins. That's just over a 3 win per team average.
Re: Coach Chizik vs Coach Mac
I was and still am a Big Mac fan (both the former ISU Head Football Coach and McDonald’s lunch/dinner sandwich). I do not believe he should have been fired. However, those days are gone. There is already an evident speed/talent upgrade at the WR and DB positions. Coach Chizik by his own words knows he cannot get “instant add-water” football players. He is recruiting guys with speed (can’t teach that) and guys with tall, lean bodies that with time in the weight room can develop. Coach Chizik has plan for Iowa State; unfortunately, it is going to take 4-5 years for him to build it the way he wants to. Give him time. Brighter days are ahead.

Except that we won't any more games this year. I hope that I am wrong, but I just don't see us winning any more games. I am not a D-MAC fan by any means but he did hell of a lot better picking up ISU football from the ashes than Chizik is doing to this university.

At least they are winning. The 6 teams that have beaten us have 24 wins so its not like we are playing great teams either. Again, this says nothing about Chizik vs. Brewster but it does suck to see them have a 2-10 season followed by a current 7-1 season and ranked #17.
