Normally Pistol Pete (the mascot) wears a cowboy outfit. Yesterday for some reason he wore a camo jumpsuit which looked really odd with his head. But yeah, he does look a Team America puppet.

I was hoping that many were already in their seats. Pretty damn embarrassing, a top 10 team on a beautiful day with huge empty spots in the stadium. It made our program look small time for the TV audience.
The ongoing construction didn't have anything to do with it because except for the west endzone suites, all other areas are open for people to sit in. And the OU game is the only game that you can't buy walk-up tickets for.

Re: Okie State's crowd
I too was surprised by such a sparse crowd for a top 10 team, and wondered if they had just "over-built" their stadium. I had forgotten about the ridiculous ticket prices they have...
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: Okie State's crowd
between ALL of those empty seats and Iowa losing..... it made the day... .bearable, barely.

Did anyone notice hot hot OSU's female fan base is overall. If you have ever been to Stillwater, you know what I mean.

Re: Okie State's crowd
Really surprised actually. I know nothing beats gameday in Ames on a fall day, especially with how great or weather has been. If ISU ever gets in the top 10 again, I guarantee we will be looking at 50k plus crowds easy. Yes I know our listed cap. is around 47k.

If ticket prices were increased to $85 for the cheap seats, we would have the same problems filling our stadium as OSU does, no matter how good the team is.
That is a classic example of setting prices higher than the market will bear.

OSU has one donor.. .THAT has alienated the fan base.

I don't think so.

Re: Okie State's crowd
Going to have to go with ISUAlum on this one...
I mean there were other factors that kept me away from OSU this year, but given that it will be 4 years before we play at OSU again, and Superfan and I are working on hitting all 12 stadiums, you'd think we'd make an effort.
Saw $85 for a ticket and decided to hit other games insted... and I mean we're willing to pay a bit more for a weekend of football than the average Joe that would be buying the cheap tickets (given how far we'd be traveling to go there...)
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -
Re: Okie State's crowd
We raised prices this year and have about 10% less attendance than we did in 2007.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -
Re: Okie State's crowd
They need all the money they can get. Turns out , all that money that T. Boone "gave" them ($165million or so) was reinvested in his company and is now worthless. OK State will not be building much unless the stock price goes up a little bit. Most unbelievable thing I've heard in a long time. I think they are trying to keep it on the "down low."
