He said he's an up front individual and he doesn't handle things the way they have been portrayed. Anyone who knows he and his family realizes that they are entrenched in Ames. He doesn't regret his decision and is happy with his career. Building Iowa State the right way is a process and he will continue with the plan in place.

"Friday on our radio show, Galloway and Company, we were having an on-air conversation about (TCU head coach) Gary Patterson possibly heading to Kansas State. We were also talking about Oklahoma State and Texas Tech at the time. I did not have any conversation with Oklahoma State coaches about Gene Chizik. I don't know any Oklahoma State coaches. We were comparing being the defensive coordinator at a place like Texas and being a head coach at Iowa State and the risk and pressure involved in being a head coach. That is how Gene Chizik's name came up. It was not based on any conversation I had with anyone else."
