Any wonder why the defense has struggled? The starting DT and starting SS have played about ten snaps between them all year. And our best LB has missed several games.

Is NF back at DT next year?

Re: Three linebackers, a specialist (punt returner) and.......
1 QB
2 RB
2-3 WR
1 TE
4-5 OL
3 DE
1 DT
3 LB
2 S
2 CB
1 PR/KR
That adds up to 22-24 recruits. I'm guessing that leaves a couple spots for players like Hargrett or Gaines or Green or somebody like that if they would choose to come to ISU.

41-51 Record in CF Mafia. The most games played and wins by any player in Cyclone Fanatic History. Yes, I'm a nerd. -

I agree here. We have a few guys who did redshirt that should have some good upside.
McDonaugh has put on some weight and reminds me of Jordan Carstens. I predict him to be a very strong force for us in the years to come.

Re: Three linebackers, a specialist (punt returner) and.......
They need a couple 330 pounders to clog up the middle so the DE's can get up the field and pressure the QB.

The one in Austin, MN has been closed for like 5 years now too... That one sucked though (like everything in Austin does)...

You know, like a pass rush? I'll point out that OU hasn't ever used 330 pounders, and seems to do okay. Originally Posted by twojman ... and only 1 DT which I am shocked at. 1 PR/KR Let's sort this out, according to current commits:
1. RB James White
2. RB Beau Blankenship
1. WR D.J. Beshears
2. WR Josh Lenz
3. WR
1 TE
1. OL Kyle Lichtenberg
2. OL Conor Boffeli
3. OL
4. OL
5. OL
1. DE
2. DE
3. DE Taylor Martin
1. DT
1. LB A.J. Klein
2. LB Ryan Mosby
3. LB
1. S Troy Butler
2. S Deon Broomfield
1. CB Jacques Washington
2. CB
1 PR/KR Jeremy Reeves
Entirely my own opinions, of course.
Huh. This seems to leave out Taylor McHargue. So that's one reason I think this is an approximation. That, and the fact that they still seem to be recruiting running backs. Of course, either, White or Beshears could fit into the "returner" slot--or Money Reynolds.
What I'm surprised by is that he only lists two safeties. When corner was similarly depleted after last season, they signed four--though getting Kennard Banks, being available at the last moment, had to be something of an...unexpected gift.
James Carpenter would certainly seem to be one of the offensive linemen, and there seem to be myriad possibilities for the defensive end slots. Mike Marry, of course, is my linebacker of choice for that remaining spot. Hopefully we can get him away from Michigan the way we did LJ.

It seems that a guy who might be 6-5 290 by next fall works better for the staff inside than out. Does that size remind you of anyone? -

Winner is Mark Farley, free fajitas for a year.
Looks like Gene sees shortage of good linebacking by picking up a full complement. 4-5 OL is also interesting. So does anyone think that is our weakness also?

Just my opinion of course, Wesley, but I think that the best high school defensive lineman in the country (of which there are very few), end up at the top 10-20 schools. Everyone else has to convert players, ie. offensive lineman, to play the defensive line. My speculation is that GC would end up converting some of the O lineman recruited, to the defensive line.
