Meyer and Blythe were both 3 star recruits...or at least they were by signing day. But your point is valid, Meyer and Blyte more than lived up to their 3* ranking while Hicks and Flynn didn't live up to their rankings as much (even though they were both pretty good players). It was the JUCOs in that class that were the huge disappointments.

You also have to look at the positions. Darks was listed as a Safety on Scout, and an athlete on Rivals.

My guess is that he is a better reciever than safety.

Just goes to show how much we can twist these ranking to our benefit.

Also shows how artificial these rankings are. Stars don't mean anything to anyone other than the general public, it simply gives us something to talk about and "rank" our recruiting class.

They also were evaluating him as a safety - now which recruiting service appears more accurate???

    Rivals 3* Wide receiver
    Scout 2* Safety

Not blastin, because if you look right when we got several current recruits, they either were low in stars or not at all, and as soon as the commitment was official they at least go to a 2* commit.

    Could it be Rudell Crim????

    Re: 2 four stars?

didn't marlon lucky march into lincoln with about 50 stars by his name, and was supposedly the second coming of larry phillips, roger craig, and mike rozier? he's having a nice senior season, but this is just another example of how bogus the star system is... and look at Stewart at CU (he's now out for the year with a broken leg), he was tearing it up as a freshman, and he hardly got a snif from MAC schools prior to suiting up for the buffs...
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

    Re: 2 four stars?

I would love it if both of these guys are on defense. For all the talk of our O-line needing help it has played decently the last couple weeks with several injured players. Plus, we have almost everyone back and some real promising youngsters.

We need the help on D! Could use Jucos at all positions except CB, but need DEs, LBs and safeties the most (unless we move a couple CBs to safety next year or Butler is a stud).

would have to guess one would be Money Reynolds and the other its hard to tell.

I'm not sure how many stars Tyease Thompson had but he is currently in Story County Jail. I wonder why a guy from Louisiana(?) is still in Ames several years later? It must be the weather.

There was never a time on Rivals when all jucos were automatically deemed 4-stars. They deem them 3-stars automatically once they've committed to a school and they've seen film on them. That's the way it's always been.

    Re: 2 four stars?

Man I hope we get better in the D-Line either by the current guys stepping up or recruiting, doesn't matter to me. I just want someone to dominate the line of scrimmage. Is total domination too much to ask?

    Re: 2 four stars?

Dobbins and Hicks were both JUCO guys and their stars are never even close to correct.

You all may say that stars don't matter, but THERE IS A REASON we are 2-8 and have been gettnig 1, 2, and 3 star guys every year. While teams like Texas, USC, etc. get 3, 4, and 5 star guys every year and are sitting 9-1. Stars do matter. Not all 4 and 5 stars hit, but more 4 and 5 stars become studs than 2 and 3 stars.... there is a reason for that.
