Re: Big 12 South playing in cold weather...
There is usually 4 weekends of Big12 football in Nov... The conference needs to send up each team each year to one game in November at a North Stadium... that isn't too much to ask, is it?

I used to think it was a weather thing but I think this makes more sense. I was kind of surprised that Okie State has to to to CU this weekend. THe division race thing makes sense to me. ANyone know if other coneferences like the SEC follow a similar scheduling philosophy?

Well, obivously the Big 12 has it in for us. I mean, they have to foucs on screwing the school with the smallest budget and least amount of football tradition.

Re: Big 12 South playing in cold weather...
The SEC doesn't have the same rotation, they do pick a team from the other division as a dedicated rivalry, and then the teams play each other every year, otherwise, it's a rotation without much sense that I am aware of. I know Arkansas's rival is considered South Carolina, so they play annually, but they went several years before they played Vandy and Tennessee in a home and home which occured in 2006 and 2007.

Are we stuck with the same UT, OU, TTU rotation until the end of the Big XII. The current 2 years on, 2 years off, rotation with the south assures that every 4 year recruit will have an opportunity to play all of the south teams both home and away. Reshuffling the order would result in both some doubling up as well as some missed chances to face some of the teams during the transition period.

Re: Big 12 South playing in cold weather...
I do believe that the reason they don't get scheduled to come up here late in the season is because the South teams are playing other South teams to decide their decision. I understand all of that.
However, I don't think it would hurt to occasionally schedule those Texas teams to come up here in the middle of November. Our teams always end up down there when its blazing hot in September, but they don't have to come up here for the opposite.

The SEC uses a 5-1-2 pattern.
The 2008 season will mark the fifth season of the 5-1-2 schedule format. The 5-1-2 format allows for each school to play all five of its division opponents along with one permanent and two rotating non-division opponents each year.
It ensures an institution will play every conference member four times during a 10-year period and that each team will make two visits to every SEC stadium during the 10-year period.
The old format used was based on a 5-2-1 schedule format. Schools played all five of its divisional opponents along with two permanent and one rotating non-division opponent each year.

Re: Big 12 South playing in cold weather...
Why cannt one team from the south come on and another goes away each year? That way the sch gets mixed up a bit. If I am correct this rotation has been used since the start of the Big 12. It isnt going to change.

They played at OU on October 18th and are playing Texas at home tomorrow.
We are the only team that has to play OU and Texas on the road in the same season.

You know, instead of whining about it year after year (because face it - it's never going to change), why not hope that we've got the "horses" in 2011 - we've got both of the "big boys" in our house that year. Best chance at beating both of them in one season is if you have both of them at home...

This seems to me to be a non-issue. I find it hard to believe that during the formation of the conference that this wasn't discussed. Obviously the south teams have an advantage during football season with regard to the weather. The Big 8 schools that agreed to a north /south divided conference are now lying in the bed they made.

Re: Big 12 South playing in cold weather...
While I would like to see the rotation switch around every once in a while, ISU could run the risk of drawing OU or TU for 4 straight years. I guess its just a matter of chance as to how it all effects the north race each year.
anyone know how the B10 rotation works? Iowa has not had OSU/MU on schedule for 2 straight years.
