Let's bring Skladany back. Where is he now, at Houston maybe?
His defense was a helluva lot better than what we have now.

FYI - Iowa State currently has more NFL players than TT, KU, MU, and Baylor. MU and Baylor have 6 - only Duke has fewer among BCS conference teams. I wrote something about this earlier this year. True. Im sure the schemes will change dramatically if/when we are able to get what we need on the field.

Uh, our head coach was a 'defensive guru' in his last two stops, so if you were going to fire a coach based on our defense, wouldn't he be logical?

His defense was a helluva lot better than what we have now. I'd rather give up quick TD's like we are now than slowly bleed to death like we did with Skladany's defenses.

Well Ace Bowen and Athyba Rubin from 2007 were pretty good, but some people didn't think so because they were Dan McCarnery recruits. | | |

Did the Cyclones lose a lot from that defense? Didn't know that about Pinkle. Let me restate that. It took Pinkle 6 or 7 years before he won consistently.
Don't think we'll get 8 wins next year, but who knows...

Did the Cyclones lose a lot from that defense? The instant Chris Brown was hurt we "lost a lot from that defense". When he stepped into the starting role against Iowa last year, he solidified an extremely shaky position. And when he went down, the personnel hadn't changed from the people he had beat out in the first place.
A point clearly demonstrated for the portion of the CU game that Chris was back on the field--before getting hurt again.
Fortunately, I think that the staff is recruiting to upgrade the position. It should be "fixed' next Fall--along with a number of other holes at least beginning to be so.

I didn't even mention the original poster calling Pinkel "Pinkle." There's just no correcting that.

Just like KU this season, Mizzou is going to come back to Earth next season after Chase Daniel, Chase Patton, and Chase Coffman leave. Their starting and backup QB's are both gone after this season.

I agree it will be a big rebuilding year for Missouri. You just can replace a player like Daniel. Glad to see that guy go.

Pretty clever. Stinkel. Awesome.
I think the Tigers will probably win the North next year. Sort of like being the tallest midget in the circus, but based on the results from the last two years, there's a fairly big gap between Mizzou and the rest of the North. In 2007, the Tigers went 5-0 against the North with an average score of 45-21. This year, the Tigers are 4-0 with an average score of 51-15. Pretty big gap.

The defensive coaches are not getting the most out of the relatively mediocre talent they do have. Obviously.
We do need to improve our coaching on defense. Coverage breakdowns week after week are embarassing. Its one thing to get outjumped for a pass or just plain not be fast enough, but we constantly have wide receivers, TEs, and RBs running wide open through the middle of our defense. These are mental errors and this is where coaching comes in.
Hopefully they make adjustments and do a better job next year if we stick with them.

Probably true.
