Josh Heupel, QB coach for OU= New OC?

This would be a great hire. He is from the upper midwest, has BIG 12 ties, and nobody can disagree with how that OU offense is going. His dad was a head coach at the D-II level and I know he has aspirations of being a head coach some day.

I can't see Gene demoting an experienced guy in favor of someone that doesn't have OC experience.

Would be a terrible hire in my opinion if for no other reason that lack of experience.

I would rather have Major Applewhite, who has been an OC twice with Rice and last year at Alabama. This year he was RB coach back at Texas and assistant head coach as well.

He also was in the rumor mill as being on staff when Chiz was hired. Would be a huge hire...won't happen, but I'd love it if it did.

Gene is not going to be able to get someone who has OC experience at the NCAA BCS-school level. There is nothing about the current state of our program or the fate of the last OC that is going to appeal to any experienced candidate. I don't know anything about Heupel to speculate if he is a good candidate or not, but he's the type of guy we will most likely be getting.

He needs experence. There are pleny of DI OCs at non BCS schools that would jump at the chance to move up and with the cash ISU will spend they should beable to lure someone in.

agree. we are going to hear who he hired and nothing more before or after.
