I agree, maybe because it sounds too good to be true? But this guy just looks like a FREAK.

Amen to that!! I am jacked that this guy actually took time, and 1 of 5 visits, to come to Ames when he has offers from everybody under the sun. This guy could be the jewel of an amazing class if we can get Dye, Marry, Reynolds, and Gaines!!!

"Ever" gotten? I'm not sure I would agree, even going back as far as over the last year. And as good as he looks, I'm not sure that I see a 6-4 220 pounder starting at defensive end from Day One.

On the other hand, if we got him, Marry and another one or two particular players, I'd say that the defense would have taken a major step to being overhauled.

You tell me who is better or a recruit. Who else have we gotten over Florida, USC, LSU, Florida St, Miami, etc? Who else have we gotten that is the 6th best at their respective position? He would no doubt be the best and he would start from day one

I dunno about "over", because he hasn't visited anyone but LSU, but we decidedly got Sed Johnson over A&M...and Bo Williams over Florida, not to mention Leonard Johnson over Michigan.

I really hate to debate rankings, as they are so subjective. Note that LJ wasn't ranked at his position (ATH), because he was an undersized quarterback. He was a pretty good recruit. And Scott Haughton wasn't ranked because it was uncertain he'd qualify. He could be special. Very special.

And Dye, however good his is, is still "merely" 168th on Rivals' 250. His 5.8 Recruiting Ranking is the same as Money Reynolds, should we sign him, and the same as Sed Johnson and Bo Williams were ranked. As a matter of fact, J.J. Bass was ranked as a 5.9. So apparently he was more highly ranked.

I still don't see how you think he would start from Day One, since both Rashawn Parker and Chris Lyle return at the position, and there is such a thing as "rush defense". I can certainly see him playing a lot, and starting as a soph, but he'd have to put on a lot of muscle to start from Day One.

I am all for getting Wempa regardless of what he offer sheets looks like to date as he is a center and that is a position we are extemely thin at past Knapp and need to get a center or two in to start learning the system.

Sounds like he is close to a decision and leaning toward Iowa State.
