I'll be honest - if he truly did interview, then my opinion of Chizik has gone down a great deal. I honestly believed him when he said he wanted to create a winner here.

It appears to be a true rumor - that said I can't imagine Auburn hiring Gene Chizik at this point in his career. Does it actually say that he interviewed for the job or was he just talked to in some fashion? Can be a big difference.

Read the article - it sounds like AuburnUndercover is trying to create a buzz so they will increase their subscriptions because they also said that Steve Spurrier and Will Muschamp were also candidates and both have denied any connection.

I think this is AuburnUndercover just throwing names out to be throwing names out.

My guess, Auburn is serious about Paul Johnson at GTech and TGill and Gary Patterson.

My guess, Patterson leaves TCU for the SEC and the bigtime.....

I would like to add that I don't think it is true at all.....just people throwing out likely names. Maybe he chatted with an old friend or something like that.

Was there a name that wasn't dropped in this article? Looks more like someone threw a bunch of names in the blender in hopes that he hits with one of them, and chose to focus on Chizik with his previous ties to the school.

Personally I don't think he's a legitimate candidate as he hasn't done anything noteworthy as a head coach yet. If it is him, then wow - I'm not sure what else to say.

Chances are that the "interview" probably consisted of the two both being in Texas and having a beer or something.

I'm sure Chizik made a slew of changes in his coaching staff to bolt at the first opportunity.

Lets be rational.....

Media outlet (AuburnUnderCover) throws out some names.....

I remember when ISU was hiring a new head coach and these names were thrown around, in fact, i remember the message traffic on this board the day that the plan was supposed to be flying to Central Michigan to pick up Brian Kelly, but for some reason the flight tracker went to Austin.....Hmmmmm whats the deal!!!!!

This Phillip Marshall from AubUnd. is simple stirring the conversation pot.....I cannot believe that Chizik would be in a position after just demoting two of his closest friends in the coaching profession that he would put himself through the pain of demoting his friends to then take off leaving everyone high and dry.

Maybe Chizik and Jacobs were speaking about Rhodes??? How about that for speculation.


If he turns ISU around in the next year or two, there will be better positions opening - say Norte Dame for one.

I think we need to take this and throw it away as a journalist throwing out names just as we have about OC that we would like to get....
