Statement From ISU AD Jamie Pollard on Gene Chizik

AMES, Iowa -- Statement from Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard on Gene Chizik:
“Gene (Chizik) confirmed for me today that he is accepting the head coaching position at Auburn. I’m disappointed for our Iowa State fans and student-athletes that he has chosen to leave our program after only two seasons. I understand that it (Auburn) is a dream job for him, but the timing and the way it played out has been hurtful and disappointing. Although this is a significant set back, we will get through the challenge because the Iowa State University athletics program is far greater than one person.”

Wow... reading between the lines on that one says a lot. I would love to have a copy of the first draft of that statement.

Pretty much sums it up... Funny how chizzlestick said more or less the same thing about Bates earlier in the year... Apparently he lead by example.

I hope we find someone soon that the players will stay and continue to work for. They, more than anyone, deserve a damn good resolution to this issue.

Jamie reads the boards, boys and girls.

Yesterday, he was spinning with the whole 'thats the qualities we saw' stuff....now he's hurt and disappointed. Um, he knew yesterday this was prob a done deal.

So that gets back to my 1st point....he knows fans are exploding w/anger right now and is playing to the electorate. This isn't a slam on JP - i think its savvy....
