Is This a Done Deal?
I just read this article on ESPN and it leads me to believe that Auburn may try to back out of the deal... ESPN - Auburn Tigers hire Gene Chizik
Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs has not confirmed the hiring.
"I think that if everything continues to go well in the next few days, we'll have the process narrowed down pretty well," Jacobs told reporters after landing in Auburn on a university jet. "We'll just go from there."
Asked if he had hired Chizik, Jacobs said: "We're just still working through the deal."
Jacobs was on the plane with university President Jay Gogue and other athletic department officials, reportedly returning from a trip to Memphis, where Chizik's agent, Jimmy Sexton, is based. A couple of dozen fans greeted the plane and some of them heckled the Auburn officials for apparently choosing a coach with a losing record.
An Auburn spokesman said no announcement was scheduled and an Iowa State spokesman also said he couldn't confirm the reports. Sexton declined to comment. Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard was out of town and unavailable for comment, spokesman Steve Malchow said.

Re: Is This a Done Deal?
I don't think if I were him I would set foot back in Ames.
He thought things were bad for his kids for what they heard at Gilbert? That ain't nothing compared to what they will here at school in Alabama. Probably should go home-schooling.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -
Re: Is This a Done Deal?
how crappy would that be if they backed out and we had to keep him now...

This is from the you tube clip. See the context and you'll understand why.

Re: Is This a Done Deal?
He is done in Ames regardless of what happens going forward. I've heard rumblings that he is demanding more than Auburn initially offered but it's just here-say and third party rumblings. He has resigned from ISU so I would love to see Auburn back out A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
Re: Is This a Done Deal?
The way I look at it. If Chizik told JP it's a done deal, as it said in JPs address, then Chizik is gone. I don't see any way he can come back here next year. I'm not leagal authoritiy, but when you quit, we don't have to honor your contract, do we?

Re: Is This a Done Deal?
Jimmy Sexton is a slimeball of an agent, unless he works for you. He controls alot of the SEC coaches, and if TCTQ hasn't signed on the dotted line and Sexton was trying to pull a fast one, perhaps JP called their bluff...I am pretty sure it's a done deal, but Sexton is the Scott Boras of college football coaches.

Oh boy, that could only be the sweetest justice ever. I would love to see Auburn back out on this one now. Welcome to the world of Backstabbing Gene. -
Re: Is This a Done Deal?
Even the ESPN faces were stupified by this hire. Is Jay Jacobs actually VanDeVelde in disguise?!?

Re: Is This a Done Deal?
I'd be ok if Auburn backed out and he was jobless.... Just saying, does he deserve anything less?
