Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?

Reading this thread is like entering bizarro world. I cant believe so many people have to rip each other in the most braind dead fashion, just because some people have differences in opinions.

Pretty embarassing. No need to hate on anyone for being unhappy with the Cyclones right now, its been a tough few years. Not everyone has to be mindlessly positive about every facet of the Athletic Dept at all times.

I just don't understand the need to "blame" someone. What does it accomplish?

Blame JP for trying to improve ISU like we as fans asked??

And here comes the "you call this improvement response" in 3 2 1...

Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?

Maybe it is time to do something constructive with this thread. We have a couple of posts about CEOs. Pollard is the CEO, he gets to decide who to hire and he is the person ultimately responsible for the fate of ISU athletics. Some of you might think this is unfair, but it is the reality. Jamie does not have to get the approval of the House or Senate and I doubt the Supreme Court will review his actions. Jamie has a great deal of power.
The football coach is the sub contractor for our project. If he leaves after the structure is framed and construction comes to a stand still, if might be the fault of the "sub"; but the CEO is responsible.
I don't know about the rest of you "posters", but I am not even close to the steering wheel on this bus. Most of us are just passengers on the bus being driven by Jamie. We crashed last Friday, but it seems most of you are inclined to let Jamie continue to drive.
I think the frustration and anger on this thread are caused by the disparity in expectations and anticipated results for the football team. If we can agree on the results and targets for the future, then we will have a clear picture of whether J.P. is "on track". Some of us expect near misses, others are screaming for their lives because of sudden turns. Maybe if we set out goals for our bus driver, then we can make a reasoned decision in the future about whether Jamie should continue to drive.
Is it unreasonable to expect to have a winning season in football within the next two to three years? We aren't playing wiffle ball here, this is hard ball; big time college athletics. My concern is that if we don't turn things around soon, we will suffer financially and that can be a killer.
I would hope we could be in a bowl game, (not even a Jan. 1 bowl) within four years. Are we ready to say we should be "at the next level" (Jan.1 bowl game) in six years?? If this targets aren't met, we look at getting a new bus driver??
I am interested in seeing if we can agree on targets and results which Jamie should meet in the short and long term future. It is tough to do a job when you don't know what is expected. Let's try to come up with a reasonable set of football goals for our A.D. and hope Jamie can find a coach able to help him reach the targets.

Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?

A baseball player can't hit a grand slam everytime but they have several at bats in a game and season. I think JP has hit some home runs and some really good doubles and triples with the talent he's brought in, if you follow the analogy. I even think the GC hire was a homerun. However, move a couple of at bats and a season or two and JP just struck out with CG. His other really good hits are Cael Sanderson, the VB coach, and others. McD has been maybe a double at best but there's lots-o-potential if he gets things going. I'm hoping he becomes a 2 run or 3 run homer.

JP's up to bat again for the FB coach and I think he's going to get a really good hit, maybe not a grand slam but it's going to be good. To say he's failed and he's the problem is just short sighted and shallow. Has he done everything perfect, nope but he's done more good than bad. I think he needs a few more at bats to see if we really need to consider getting rid of him.

    Just my $0.02.

Why can't we be friends? Why can't we be friends?

I never thought a thread created by Monty that spews nothing but stupidity would last this long.

Please Monty go back to Hawkeye websites under you other assumed name...

Then please be honest: if BVD had indeed fired "one of the most successful coaches in history," prior to the photos coming out in the media, you would have supported BVD?
    C'mon, be honest.
