Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?
I do love how situations such as this one bring everyone out of the wood work. It would be interesting to see how many of these names Ive not seen before this weekend could actually answer even basic questions about ISU athletics.

Like the last person said... Real Cyclone fans care...
If you don't... Get the heck out of here.

Maybe we are suppose to blame Monty.

Can we start banning people here? Or at least put little Hawk avatars by suspected Hawkeye posters?
I don't want other people to come on this site and get confused that Hawkeyes speak for the rest of us.

WIN AT ALL COSTS!
It is cliche, but I would rather see a program run properly, with integrity and honesty, than win ANY games.
If you don't "effing care" then you should find another school to root for.

Re: Why don't we blame the guy who created this mess?
I agree, Pollard needs to do a better job of hiring head football coaches. Starting...now.

The basketball had a coaching change and has had 3 years of not sniffing any postseason play. Who made that coaching change? Jamie Pollard.
Fans are staying away partly because of ticket prices and partly because of a flawed seat donation/season ticket scheme that rewards NOT buying season tickets. Who put together that scheme? Jamie Pollard.
Now we're conducting a coaching search with the promise that it will be confidential and secretive. And on day one, we have the humiliation of being told publicly that a guy coaching at a MAC school would rather stay there then take our job in the Big 12 at 4 to 5 times the salary. What does that say to the rest of the college football world, including all other potential candidates? And who promised us this confidentiality? Jamie Pollard.
I have heard multiple radio shows with hosts and callers expressing sympathy for the tough situation Jamie is now in regarding the football program and the state of ISU athletics in general. What a crock. There is no reason to feel sorry for Jamie Pollard for cleaning up a mess -- he created the mess in the first place. Gene lied to him? Gene is a snake oil salesman, you say? Give me a break. If Chizik is a snake oil salesman, then Pollard must be the most gullible dupe in the history of snake oil sales. We are not going to see better performance on the field or court until we get better performance from our athletic director.
You sound just like a Hawk fan. Jumping ship and pointing fingers when the going gets tough. I bet you're the also the one who lives it up when things are good around here as well.

This is so true. People seem to forget 1st and foremost college athletics are molding young men and women to lead our society. Its not just about entertaining us.

Monty...how bad is your life that you pretend to be a Cyclone fan on a cyclone message board AND pretend to be a hawk fan on a hawk message board?
Or should have I addressed this to Dr.Hibbard?

I'm just glad that we didn't have to hear about the season ticket counter on cyclones.com again....

What was the over/under on how long it'd take you to make this post bashing JP??
- Ticket sales up
- Facility improvements up the ying yang to draw in better recruits
- Hired the top choice last time around for a FB coach
- Lured in the coach EIU couldn't get.

Are they serious?
We are getting a bb practice facility? Great, so our last place team has a place to practice.
We renovated the west side of Jack Trice? Yep, love those new concession stands, nothing better than eating a tasty hot dog while I watch Texas A&M put on an aerial circus against our team.
The cross country team has risen? Super, their season ticket holder must be thrilled.
Those that defend Pollard are quick to criticize Chizik because the football program is in worse shape now than it was when he arrived. And they're right. But what if we apply the same standard to Jamie? By any reasonable measure, the athletic program as a whole (volleyball aside; there are really just 2 very important sports - football and men's bb, and 2 somewhat important sports - women's bb and wrestling) is in worse shape now than when Jamie arrived.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Fine then...who the frick would you rather have in the AD slot?
Come on...we dare you to say BVD. Do it so we can all laugh hystierically.
Being an AD is not an exact science. JP got burned big time by Chizik. No way he saw this coming. Heck even 99% of Auburn fans didn't see this one coming or want it.
Get over having to "blame" someone.
