What Pollard is doing right now...

Here is what I believe JP's plan is:
1. Met with the search firm at same time coordinated informal discussions with rep for Turner Gill. NO OFFICIAL CONTACT YET
2. Working with firm on other potential names if TG is not a possiblitiy, but will give it his best shot on Gill
3. Working list of other candidates, search firm will make informal contact to see who is open to listening and who is not
4. Will identify next three candidates to go after, and put them in order. If no one stands out, may have to talk with more than one
5. Pres. Geoffery may or may not meet with the candidate this time. He did with Chizik, but with no time luxury, he may not.
6. If TG is a definate NO GO, fly to next location for meeting with representative of next in line.
JP would have a power point with the inside and outside of all facilities, all current athletes on the team and background on program. The next best thing to being there.
7. JP Announces coach before Christmas. Merry Christmas!

Uhh....... Turner Gill, Nebraska, will not come to Iowa State. Forget about it. Lawrence Phillips has a better chance of coming here.

Gene Smith is looking wiser and wiser guys. He hired "the guy who wanted the job the most". Flame me if you want, but Danny Mac was a good hire and a good Cyclone. he just fell victim to bad assistants, bad judgement of applying the good-ol-boy system, and other intangibles.
This time is different--obviously--than the chizik hire. Jamie has to hire "the guy who wants it the most" out of a select pool. A select pool with wide variety and diversity. It isn't freaking rocket science to coach Football. You tackle, you throw the ball, you catch the ball, you block and hold discretioinally depending on how referees call it, etc...... We need sound fundamentals and missing heart/desire to be here long term. Hell, I would look at any Div. 1, 2, or 3 coach who has shown success, moxy, and desire.

Maybe all Ames stores should pull Cheezits from the shelves...sort of like when they wanted to change the cafeteria menu to freedom fries in D.C.

You don't have any Cheetos? Man, that is a problem...people, we'll need to postpone the search for a new coach until we can get this man some cheetos.
