As far as being a jerk in the SEC..its a rough and tough league man, I am sure Saban, Meyer and Chizzle are jerks as well. Off the field instances? Doesnt seem to bother the UI Admin with Ferentz. Did u not read the post? He hasnt been landing big-time recruits. I watched them play this year. A shell of their former selves. Getting smacked by UCLA, losing to Wyoming at home.
He’s lost the magic and the UT admins knew it. With 30 years of service dont you think the AD would have given him some benefit if he thought he had some left in the tank.
Hes recruited subpar players with off-the-field issues in recent years.
The last thing we need is some big jerk coming in here acting like a prima donna swallowing up every last dime we have in the budget bringing in thugs, so we can say we hired a name coach.
If you think any coach will turn ISU around in three years your havent looked at the sked. Not even Fat Phil and Rocky Top Mafia can turn this thing around fast.

He had two safeties that were supposed to be first round picks this year, both were hurt for the majority of the season... He was still getting talent, there was just a lot of unrest in the fan base that trickled down to the coaches and players...

Re: 12/18 Official Coaching Search Thread
For anyone who questions or says he wasnt recruiting anymore to Tennessee just take a look at this: Tennessee Commit List for 2009
These are players that committed thinking Fulmer was going to be there

How can you start out by saying he has not landed the recruits, did you see the class that he had in 2007? Granted they did have off-the field issues with quite a few, but he had 5-5star, and 10+4star recruits. I does say a lot that with that class how could he not produce this year. I think he should be strongly considered, he has been in the college football world for a long time and to me would bring in some great Assistants under him....

Re: 12/18 Official Coaching Search Thread
IF our current players and most commits stay committed then we would probably have a decent team next year. That is why I want this done soon.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

These are players that committed thinking Fulmer was going to be there Rivals recruiting rankings over the last eight years for Tennessee:
2009 - 21
2008 - 35
2007 - 3
2006 - 23
2005 - 4
2004 - 11
2003 - 18
2002 - 2
Sure, his 2009 recruiting class would be great for us, but it does look like his recruiting has tapered off a bit lately.
I'm not so sure he would be a "no-brainer", but we definitely should take a close look at him, if he is indeed interested.
The fact is that any candidate that we will be able to hire will have some red flags. The red flags for Fulmer seem to be smaller than for the other candidates, IMO.

In years where you have less schollies to fill, your rank is almost automatically going to go down. Also, in the year after a great class, you are going to have trouble selling playing time if they're coming in after a big recruit at their position. To me, the cycle makes sense, and none of that looks bad at all. -

I would think hiring Fullmer would help keep the players here. Who wouldn't want to play for somebody who has won a National Championship.
