Tim Murphy interested
Gocyclones.com is reporting that Harvard head coach Tim Murphy is interested in the Cyclone's job. Go Cyclones - Harvard's Murphy latest name in search
What do you think? Head coach at Harvard since 1994, obviously knows how to win, but would you be happy with a head coach from the Ivy League?

Re: Tim Murphy interested
He has no ties to Iowa, the midwest, to Texas, or any other fertile recruiting grounds. And the players he got at Harvard are not quite the same as the athletes he would need to win in the Big 12. He has also spent his entire life (not just his coaching career) in New York/New England, save for a brief stint at Cincinnati. Does he really want to be at ISU or is it a stepping stone to a job like UConn, Syracuse, Rutgers, Boston College, etc.?
I have never heard of the guy and have nothing against him, but he doesn't look like a good match for ISU.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Re: Tim Murphy interested
He has to be a proven closer in the recruiting process. Who would he brinmg as assistants? Mark Farley might be better choice.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

depends, is his wife from Ames?
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. -

Re: Tim Murphy interested
Ivy League or not, his record proves he is a winner and at this point in time, what would it hurt interviewing him?
