Will we know who said no?
Is this the sort of thing that gets leaked?
I know that Marty and Miller said that Paul wasn't Jamie's first choice, but other than Turner, who can we definitively say wasn't interested or said no?
I'm assuming that Jamie had some bigger names in mind, at least at first.
I'm not saying he settled, but wonder who else we contacted. Maybe this isn't something we'll ever know.
Re: Will we know who said no?
For me, the queston would be, "Five years from now, will we care who said no?"

Of course Marty said he wasn't the first choice, he's been banging the Stoops drum for a few days.
Truth is we don't know if he was the first choice or not and we don't even know who else was on the list.

IF he was the first choice, it would've been a done deal long before now, I would think.

I like it. I think the answer is no.
And no, we'll never really know who may or may not have been a first choice.
Re: Will we know who said no?
I agree this guy could have been hired in a day if he was choice #1

IMO there is no upside in continuing to ask who else may have been in the mix.
First choice or not, we have our man and he wants to be here. I am very excited about the future of Cyclone Football
Re: Will we know who said no?
Unless you are looking for something to whine about, I don't see the point in the search for an answer.
Re: Will we know who said no?
It isn't like other schools don't get told no. Chizledick wasn't Auburns first choice either. It is nothing unique to ISU and in no means says anything about the quality of job or caliber of the program. For various reasons (like their current job, want to hold out a year for the BIG jobs, not interested in moving to the midwest, don't feel they are up to the challenge of coaching in the big12, etc) some people just decide it wouldn't be a good fit.

fixed it for ya...:biglaugh:
Re: Will we know who said no?
Who cares where in the pecking order he was.
Let's start the new era in a positive way and get behind him.
Re: Will we know who said no?
Does it matter we got a good hire. Rumor was he wanted the job last time as well. The only reason it matters is so people can scoreboard watch. I am sure JP interviewed many coaches before making this hire.
Re: Will we know who said no?
JP didn't have too far to look. Funny how the only other people tossed out there who gave a firm comment, said "no comment," because they had not been contacted. This search was over before it started.
Re: Will we know who said no?
We know Rhoads wasn't the first choice but that's about all we will probably ever find out.
We only put one coach in a position where we had to be publicly rejected and that was Turner Gill. It could have been worse. We could have been Auburn and spent weeks instead of days searching and been very obviously down to our 8th or 10th choice like they were.
Re: Will we know who said no?
You assume someone said NO
You do know who said YES, get behind it.
