I can't remember his name, but the worst percentage was back in the beginning of the 20th century, and he only coached 3 games. (0-3). So, he has the worst record of anybody that has coached more than 3 games. ;-)

I thought Gene Chizik was a good coach Sunday-Friday. He said the right things, he looked the part, but come gameday it was a very unimpressive product. I also didn't like the way he purposely played younger guys instead of upperclassmen. For example, the fact Allen Bell didn't play more is laughable to me. He's a fine player, a very legit Big 12 DB.

He likes sunglasses and he does not smile much. Too much work.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

In jizzlik's defense, I heard this was the only way to stop the Golden girls

    This was the real mind-boggler....

I asked it in another thread...and tried to google it too....
Just how many delay penalties and wasted time outs did we have this year? I mean we even got delay penalties after taking a ******* time out. I have to believe that we set some sort of NCAA record.

Special Teams: C. Real good kick returns and coverage, bad punt returns and coverage.
Special Teams are an F. They costs us the Toledo game last year. Plus our inability to return a punt with a proven return man like RJ was completely dumb. Grant Mahoney is the only guy that was a bright spot in 2 years.

Re: Auburn Fan: Wanting Your Opinion

Our special teams did improve greatly this season. In 2007 it was a complete disaster. Couldn't make a FG, couldn't cover a kick, couldn't return a kick, couldn't field a punt, etc.

Atleast this year we didn't give up huge kick returns and found a kicker who can actually kick. We still couldn't find anyone to return punts, which is alarming and sad.

But LJ did set the NCAA single game kickoff return yardage record!!!
He and our D made sure we got lots of in-game kick off return practice

In hindsight....he was more of a defensive discoordinator

I realize 2008 was better on special teams but 2007 was so bad it was impossible to get to 60%

    Report Card
    2007 Special Teams - F
    0/100

    2008 Special Teams - D
    60/100

    Total Grade - F
    60/200

Re: Auburn Fan: Wanting Your Opinion

Look at it this way: Iowa State has had 31 football coaches throughout history:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_St...aching_history

As you said yourself, Iowa State is not on the same level as Auburn, or in other words, not many of those coaches have been successful. Rank the list in order of winning %. Excluding one guy who 0-3 in the 1800's, Gene Chizik ranks dead last. Congratulations, Auburn: You have replaced one of the best coaches you've ever had with the worst coach in Iowa State history. I can hear the echo of the rest of the SEC laughing all the way from here.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

By the way Auburn fan - Iowa State has not exactly been a football power house. But thanks to your AD, we have hope again!
