Auburn Fan: Wanting Your Opinion

First of All congrats on Paul Rhoads. He is a fantastic coach. I am a 2004 Alumni of Auburn. The year that we had that magical run. I see that 5-19 record and think man he is a very bad coach. He did not improve at all. What he did at Auburn on Defense at Auburn and Texas is remarkable. Iowa State is not at the same level that Auburn is though. No Disrespect Intended. I think we have legitimate chance to win 8-10 games. We have the talent and if we can get a big time OC I will feel much better. Congrats on Roads and War Eagle. Go Cyclones!

You won't sniff 8 wins next year. You should know better than that. Kodi Burns is your QB afterall.

Or is he? Kodi did show progress if we can get a good QB coach he will be a great QB. see Jason Campbell. We could of won 8 games this year if we had the 90th worst offense instead of the 118th.

I thought 8 wins wasn't good enough at Auburn?

Comparing Jason Campbell to Kodi Burns? Really? Kodi looked awful in the Iron Bowl. The guy can't read a defense, nor can he throw.

The Iron Bowl he did play bad. He did throw over 250 yards vs Ole Miss. He is a first year qb so you really can't expect much. He was one of the better QB's coming out of high school. It doesn't really mean anything. They tried to run the spread with the man. He is more the scrambler occasional QB Draw. Pocket Passer.

Probably true, but for the record as an aside we lost about half our recruits when Gene walked in. He kept Phillip Bates who then quit mid season. TYhat si why the question was asked.

I think you're missing the point on the QB.

The point is that Chizik took over a program that was one year removed from a bowl game and that was still at least average to slightly below average. In year one he made it worse. In year two, he made it even more worse. In fact in year two, his team got worse with each passing game. Does he have more talent to work with at Auburn? No doubt. Will he be a good coach someday? Maybe. But the bottom line is that in the opportunity he has had to be a head coach, he did not get the job done.

You're not going to get a lot a lot of people to say many good things about Chizik or Auburn right now.

You better hope that Gene brings better coordinators to Auburn than his buddies that he brought to Ames.

Lets put it this way. Iowa State has played some BAD football over the years. Chizik had one of, if not the, worst defenses we have ever produced. That says a lot. If you need more, Iowa State has had some coaches with TERRIBLE records and chizik left with the second worst winning percentage in ISU history. Good luck to you. I wish Chizik the same he gave us.

Well, I do agree there. Kodi had a lot thrown at him this year. I don't understand why Todd didn't play more late in the year, unless he was truly hurt. I also don't understand why Mario Fannin doesn't get more touches. That guy is great IMO.

Gene had, as far as records go, our best ever QB, #1 and #3 WR and we couldnt score a lick. This year we couldnt stop the Golden Girls on defense.

Also the big 12 has been the best ever. 476–556–46. When was the last coach to come above .500 at that school. a long time. I just don't see why so many AU Fans think it is over because of 2/23 years.
