Any good guess at asst. coaches?
Does anyone have any ideas about who PR will try to add to the coaching staff? As I understand it everyone from Auburn was let go and Chizik is not coming back for any of the guys he dumped in Ames. Is that correct? If so, I can't figure out what GC is thinking, but that is nothing new. Do you think PR will take a couple of the Auburn guys, keep McFarland as a OL coach and fill in the blanks with other guys? There has to be a lot of pressure to get things going.

Expect to see Chris Ash on the staff.

I think Sheppard and Becton won't be retained. Keep your eye on Chris Ash, Charlie Partridge, or Noah Joseph as assistants.

Why don't many people think Sheppard will be retained? I personally think he's done a great job as the strength and conditioning coach. Over the past two years it's obvious that ISU's players are much bigger, faster, and stronger than what they ever have been. It's nice to see some big and strong lineman as opposed to big, slow fatty's. Also, look at some of the skilled players and how much bigger they are too. I would love for Sheppard to stay.

How do you know they're stronger and faster. Are you spotting them or holding a stopwatch? Just because Shep has befriended these players doesn't make him good. There's a big difference. His methods are outdated and elementary. The linemen discrepancy in the past can be contributed to the great Barney Cotton. When McGettigan and Loney worked together...linemen were DOMINANT.

Re: Any good guess at asst. coaches?
How about hiring his old high school coach (Jerry Pezzetti) to be the offensive coordinator? Then we could adopt that mis-direction running attack that has made Ankeny a power! Also, he could bring in Ankeny's kicking coach.
P.S. This is not a serious suggestion, so please don't blast me.

Re: Any good guess at asst. coaches?
Players were fast and strong under Getty as well. If lineman are smaller now its because their respective coaches wanted them that way.
Here's another vote for Ankeny's wing-T (insert sarcasm pirate here)
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

Ideally I'd like to throw my name in the mix for OC..
I don't drink the Kool-Aid, and I am done making excuses. Only keeping it real... -
Re: Any good guess at asst. coaches?
I could see Atif Austin being snatched from UNI to coach our secondary or running backs.

I could see this as well.

Re: Any good guess at asst. coaches?
I believe Sheppards position is being advertised, so I assume he is no longer with ISU.

Re: Any good guess at asst. coaches?
I'm hoping for: James Willis (LB) http://bwi.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?...rt=1&year=2009 Tony Franklin (OC) http://auburntigers.cstv.com/sports/...121207aab.html Bolt and McFarland at current positions (assuming the pay is commensurate with the new positions) -
Re: Any good guess at asst. coaches?
I don't think Tony Franklin got a fair chance. He can excel with all the wr we have on this team

It is interesting that would be Barney Cotton's stance at ISU because talking to some NU friends he apparently took the exact opposite approach over there this year. Callahan apparently wanted them as big as possible, the new NU regime apparently forced them all to slim down, some by as much as 50-60 pounds.
