When Chris was just getting established in the business, Bobby Elliott predicted that he would develop into an outstanding coach. He said that Chris reminded him of a younger Bob Stoops.

I liked the guy, but certainly didn't love his style. 100% agree and that definitely don't fit with the idea that Rhoads likes aggressive defenses. Skladany was a lot more like Norm Parker, bend but don't break - ooopppsss we broke again!!!!!
Great hire, i think this is the phase that will determine Rhoads abilities as a head coach. He has to assemble a staff that can recruit and coach. He knows that as a ISU coach, he won't be attracting a lot of 4-5* guys. So what he has to do is target the 2-3* guys and coach them.
I actually thought Chizik and his staff did a remarkable job of identifying talent - we will see if they can be coached.

Re: Ash is back
ok so what is his position? DB coach, Defensive Coordinator?? I'm excited he's here, but what did Rhoads hire him as?

Re: Ash is back
Chiziks two classes, IMO will be hard to beat as far as raw athleticism goes. Thats why i would love to keep Coach Fountain, he is phenominal

Re: Ash is back
Why would DMac leave the associate head coaching position at Florida to come back to a University that fired him to be their DC?

I believe Ash was a Grad Assistant when Rhoads was here and he got the job when he left for Pitt.

Re: Ash is back
And Coach Ash has a house he can move back into. his house has been on the market for a long time! That is, if he wants to make the commute from Ames to WDM

Again, please can we stop the talk of DMac coming back as DC. This is getting OLD!!!!

Re: Ash is back
I think any references to DMAC coming back to ISU should always have this following ..
Meaning nobody should seriously expect to ever see that happen, especially at a Coordinator capacity.

I think he's smarter than that, but that's what I thought about Coach Chizik too...
