Football.
Volleyball/women's basketball/wrestling
Yes.
Now, if we are talking only fball and mens bball. thats a toughie... Had we not lost to SDSU and hawaii and drake in basketball, I'd say bball. But, since we haven't proved that we can put away teams and beat easy teams. I might just have to go with football.
All of those for sure.
Out of Men's Basketball and Men's Football, I'd have to go more towards Men's Basketball.
In basketball, you need to get a bit lucky with a couple of guys. In football, you really need to have a great team.
With the recruits coming down the pipeline, I'm just more optomistic about Men's Basketball (believe it or not).
I hope football does well, but it's such a big, long process that it's really hard to tell. I also think we're much farther behind with money, recruits, etc, to those in the conference in Football than Basketball....
Womens basketball has underperformed this year for the most part other than a home win against Minnesota. 2 major embarrassing blowouts so far this year.
Wrestling is solid
Volleyball had a great season.
Men's basketball has not shown anything since Stinson left.
Football..... ugh 5-19
I suppose the answer to the question is in how we define success. I see basketball success as consistent NCAA tournament selection and an occasional multigame run into the tournament. I see football success as consistent bowl selection, with an occasional trip to a better bowl game. I think both of these is attainable with the current coaching staffs. I think that basketball has the capability of being a top 30 program, and football a top 50 program. I do not think that success for either program will mean an NCAA or bowl trip every year- maybe 3 out of every 4 or 5.
I can't wait for 2008 to end. I has been a horrible year for ISU sports. I was hopeful that, finallly FB and MBB would take a step forward this year. If they did, it must have been a very small step. It seems like we are alway waiting for next year. Well 2009 can't be much worse than 2008, so wait until next year...............:jimlad:
IF fairing better means post season, I'm going with Football first.
No way in hell this Basketball team gets a sniff of post season. If the dice fall right we got an outside chance at some crappy bowl game next year. I just don't see Basketball going in the right direction.
Football. No doubt in my mind. Beginning in '09 - assuming Rhoads holds on to his players/recruits.
Football as basketball is looking bad!
In the long run? Basketball, but that seems like a long way away.
