Coach Rhoads on Jim & Jim tonight.....

Yeah I know, I shouldn't listen to that stuff, but my Hawk wife always monitors it for me to weed out the Hawk hype, and lets me know if there is some Cyclone stuff on there of note.

Well, Coach Rhodes was on there tonight, and I'm even more impressed than I was before. I think this guy will be the real deal for ISU - finally. I think I heard him say that another coach will be announced tomorrow. I assume that will be the DC. Said look for a spread offense, but a lot of variations. Sounded like excitement may return to Trice. Said he will recruit Iowa first, (expected that), but Texas and Florida are prime spots as well. He will be traveling all next week from Texas to Florida to Wisconsin and back to Iowa. He talked a little bit about how during the down period some recruits and their families took upon themselves to visit Ames and him on their own. I guess that is allowed during the down period. I was impressed by that. I don't get pumped easily - but I am now! Hope I got it all right.

Honestly, I would not be as excited for Cyclone football in 2009 if Chiz and Company were still here. He would have had to hire some kick*** coordinators to get me excited.

This completely breathes new life into the fanbase again. And this time, I believe, is for real.

I think HS players can contact coaches during down periods but coaches cannot contact hs players. I could be wrong.

Are the Jims still doing the show? Last time I heard JZ talk he didnt seem all there and having issues. With Walden you never know what you are going to get.

Glad to have a coach that you can believe when he says he will recruit Iowa first.

I was way down on next year with Chizik, now I'm ready to see what this new staff has to offer.

Coach Rhodes talked a bit of recruiting.
It starts with defensive linemen.
Said ISU is a bit short in safeties and that will be addressed
Also sounds like he found a couple more Iowa boys that may
fit for what he wants.

Yeah, they are both on there. I hadn't listened for a long time. It appears to me that Walden has taken control and covers for Zabel when he can. But still hawk city.

One big difference - even McCarney would probably admit that he didn't come close to challenging for the class valedictorian title. PR was clearly the sharper guy in the classroom. I expect him to show it on the sideline also.
