What was GOOD about the defense last year?

First, we had decent depth at corner. And LJ made some great hits.

Second, despite his limitations, Jesse Smith made some big plays against the rush.

    Anything else?

alot of REALLY young guys got alot of playing time. They should get exponentially better after a full year of coaching and S&C.

There's a saying about turds and polishing that would fit quite well here.

And with that, I'll leave you with a song...

Funny, it's hardly "polishing" when a two item list is obviously counterbalanced by about a thousand.

On the other hand, I don't really see a reason to dwell on the negative...again and again and again and again....

After all, at this stage, you have to have something to build on. You simply cannot contstantly tear down.

Except when he let Shonn Green escape a certain losss of yardage and make a big play to the outside.

We had a lot of younger players get good experience. ex. Rumphammer, Ferguson, Black, LJ, Benton.

LJ was good for a Freshmen. I thought Frere looked better as the season went on. Lyle could make plays every once in a while. If he could be consistent he might be ok

Re: What was GOOD about the defense last year?

    Positives:

1 real good looking young DB and one pretty good looking young DB got some experience.

Lyle rushed the passer well at times.... young DTs played well at times also.

Jesse Smith is a really good run stopping MLB.... for some reason though, our scheme had him 15 yards deep chasing slot receivers all over the field. We got a lot of experience for our young LBs, unfortunately they didnt show much, but hopefully they can put it together for next year.

Oh yeah, one huge positive for next year.... our safeties can't possibly cover worse.... we have to improve next year, its impossible not to.

    Blood...running...out...of...my...ears! That's worse than being Rick-rolled. Thanks.
Dean Wormer was wrong. Fat, drunk and stupid was a great way to go through college (all five years of it).
