Kennard was the real hitter of the group.

Leonard Johnson is a pretty good hitter...anyone notice him carry out a sledgehammer at the A&M game? That was awesome.
LJ's 5-10 at ~175lbs. Put another 20lbs on him with the way he hits and look out . It would make him much more durable for the long term.

I'd like to see JW hit someone on while he's on D. He delivered some good hits as a RB but would love to see him or someone close to his size laying receivers out.

Agree, that is why I have been questioning the ability to cover and tackle in space against Big12 wr's. Also, making that point that when is the last time we saw a 220 lb safety with that ability....and one that isn't heavily recruited.

Thanks for the info, but disappointed about the sledgehammer, I'll just keep pretending it's because he prides himself on hammering people.

That's why Brandtner had it one game.

Kennard is a hitter but he lacks the size (even though he's listed at 5-10 and 193bls - I though I saw something saying he was more of a 5-7 ~180) and he missed most of his pass defense responsiblities. He hit well with guys coming out of the backfield but got burnt many a time with receivers running right by him. I think most of that was due to him wanting to hit someone and forgetting his other responsiblities.

In the first game of the season (when he broke his arm) I saw him take on a 300lbs lineman when we intercepted a pass. Kennard had a head of steam up and hit the guy and knocked him off of his feet. One of the best hits of the year. I thought...this is going to be great watching him, then the broken arm and out for several games. He played so so when he came back due to limited abilities with the cast. He still hit hard.

For me, laying the wood this year has to go to LJ. Over and over he delivered the best hits.

He put on a show the first game of the year...until he broke his arm. I like the way both KB and LJ bring it.

Well put. I was sitting there thinking these corners are going to be so much fun to watch and not 2 minutes later he's walking off holding his arm.

Stop it. I'll pretend that is because LJ let him borrow it. Wish I could work in a punter joke, but Brandtner was about our best player.

I agree that LJ could lay the wood but at times he needs to know when to wrap the arms. I still remember the Mizzou game when he hit the wide receiver with a huge hit but all the receiver did was back up a few steps and then run into the end zone. Maybe is our lack of gang tackling but when he gets the chance to smack somebody and he is all alone he needs to know to get his arms around the guy and take him to the ground. I didn't see it as much later in the season but that was only a game or two.

I agree. Wrap up! Hitting hard is one thing but when two bodies of unequal mass collide the bigger body usually wins. With LJ being a bit undersized he needs to be able to wrap up along with the hit. The hits are fun to watch but it sucks to watch the guy who was hit keep running. Like I said earlier, put 20 maybe 30lbs on him and it's a bit different. I still think he'll need to wrap up.
