lost another commit
Brock Wempa is going in another direction. Acording to rivals.
I am getting kind of nervous that we do not have a DC and that our commit list is getting shorter.
We need some OL, LB's, DT, DE and a QB.
And don't start saying we have 2 good QB's, you need one everyclass!

Re: lost another commit
Not a surprise. Heard he wasn't high on the new staffs list.
Good luck to him.

Re: lost another commit
Old news. He was cut loose, not the kind of lineman the staff is looking for. Expect us to recruit undersized athletic lineman and grow them to the 280 lb range.

Re: lost another commit
Settle down, I am sure that there is a lot of things going on behind the scenes.
Losing commitments is a natural process when you change coaches. Maybe PR has a center that he would like to bring in??

Re: lost another commit
I want some d-lineman, namely DT's. Without them clogging the middle we are in for more of the same of 2008...

Re: lost another commit
Let the "we didn't want him anyway" posts commence in full!!!!!!!
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Re: lost another commit
We would rather have a Harlan Hoch....just hope we can get 25 good ones in three weeks
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: lost another commit
As we continue to lose these kids (whether it's by their choice or ours will always be debated), I'm starting to buy the fact that this class is going to end up being short so that they'll have a full year for next year's class. I just hope we're not only selling 4 or 5 wins again next year because then we could be in real trouble. The only good news as of late is that SJ and DD appear to be coming back to campus which is probably better than any recruiting news at this point.

Re: lost another commit
It bothers me a little to see the new staff starting out saying we are going to get recruits to play our system. The problem at ISU is that we have been losing for so long that the coach has no way to sell recruits on his new system. The attitude is that no system is good enough to make a winner in Ames. I think we need to take the talent on hand and find a way to pull off a small miracle or too, then worry about matching players to the staff's preferred system and gradually transition to it. I just can't imagine what PR is going to say to a high level recruit that will make him choose ISU over our primary competitors, NU, KU, MU and CU without having two or three significant wins to show that it can be done. Unfortunately, we are in a position that requires more than a little devine intervention to get the ball rolling. I don't think we can afford to turn away any talent, regardless of whether they match a particular system. Take the talent you can get and adapte the system to what you have.

Re: lost another commit
I am just nervous that we don't have a DC yet. How do you sell a high schooler on ISU if he/we don't even know who the defensive coach is going to be? -
Re: lost another commit
This class won't be a full 25. We're not going to be handing out scholarships to Iowa boys like Mac did just to fill the class.

Re: lost another commit
PR needs a DC PDQ or we are SOL
