Are they going to install wind turbines in the south endzone project...

    or not?
I see that ISU is hosting it's first wind energy symposium at the CoEngineering. This rumor has been around for years and years....it seem the time has come to put a couple of wind turbines in the windiest freaking place in Iowa...the south end zone of jack trice. Seems like a good win-win-win-win-wind on a lot of fronts with the College of Engineering, Jamie looking for ways for us to stand out from the crowd with our facilities, and Chet Culver touting us as the Renewable Energy Capital of the universe. Has its time come?

Let's be original folks. Don't bore me.

How about they position it so the blades rotate in front of the goal posts and we can let it run when the other team is kicking and shut it down when we kick.

I'm good with it. Definitely distinguishing. Does Ames fall in the wind channel? I thought the pockets were north and south of Ames.

Why not! I was in West texas 2 weeks ago. 1400 mile sales marathon, wind turbines as far as the eye can see. I haven't been out there for 8 years and was amazed! transmission lines everywhere to put it where it needs to go. Was in Iowa last week, it wasn't my idea! Why is it I didn't see any, Omaha to Sioux City?
We have hundreds in New Mexico where I live and need more!

You needed to go a little farther north. Highway 3 between Cherokee and Pocahontas is wind turbine mania.

If they do maybe the can get some bailout money. There is money there for windturnibnes. That could help pay for the double decker endzone project.

Not gonna happen...with EIU coming to town every other year we would probably have major wind damage that would require too much maintenance.

oh man, I couldn't think of a better place to drop the "hawkeyes sucks and nebraska blows" joke... it could power Ames for an eternity....
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

NO. I will have nightmares everytime i pass by there. I did after i went to a nevada (iowa town, not the state) football game. the team that knocked my team out of the state playoffs had a wind turbine in their north endzone....

Jamie is on the coach's show tonight at 6:30 on KXNO (I assume GMAC is already in Colorado) someone could call in and ask him about it.

While you're at it, ask him why a conference game isn't on local tv.

Here's a little sketch I drew up on Paintbrush the last time this discussion came up.
