    This is what I needed, a good laugh. And to realize that even though they beat us this year, being a Iowa State basketball fan is much better than an Iowa one.

    Oh, man...I know that ISU promotes Soccer and Volleyball by having the players greet people in the dining centers. But come on hawks, really? you have to do this? As if free admission isn't enough. It's not the players fault, the fans need to show a little more support!

    Just FWIW, when I was a Freshman (McDermott just got hired) he and Pollard went through all the dorms introducing themselves and encouraging the students to buy tickets and go to games.

    "Rock bottom" may be referring to letting students in for free. I don't think that's ever happened at ISU.

    Honestly, sounds like good face-to-face marketing. Students get invited by someone that they met personally. Increases their identification with the player/team.
