Iowa State will always need instate recruiting. Do they need to keep the top iowa hs fb players to stay in state? no. But having an eye on all the sleepers who can contribute for ISU. Does our starting QB, RB, WR, DE, LB, CB, etc. need to be from instate of course not. If we can get the best players to fit our systems from texas, california, florida, oklahoma, or even vermont than it doesn't matter where in the country they reside. We can't however let the u of i recruit their "territory" here in eastern iowa like it is in fact theirs. It's good to see Cyclone recruits these past fews years coming from Waterloo, Davenport, Bettendorf, Muscatine, Cedar Rapids, etc. here in E iowa. And that has to continue. The addition of a coach who is from Ankeny, Iowa can ONLY help instate recruiting. He knows what Iowa State is all about, he knows how to win there (he's done it) and knows everything ISU can offer. The future is bright for young Cyclones who love football in this state.

I don't think it is unreasonable to want superior athletes but what do you think the have been attempting to do over the years?
As I stated earlier ISU from 2002 to 2006 signed 53 kids from Cali, Florida and Texas so maybe just maybe they should have tried a tick harder to sign some of the athletes at home. Maybe they did and couldn't I don't really know but going to Texas and Florida for "athletes" isn’t exactly a new concept for ISU. I wonder how many of those 53 kids actually made it to graduation.
I don't know the answer but I wonder how many "superior" athletes might have been found a little closer to the home borders here in the Midwest. Iowa has found some, maybe PR will too.

I think if you go back and look real close the hi-jacking occurred by the usual suspects. Here is a hint it wasn’t "hawk" trolls, but rather threatened ISU fans.

You seem like a nice enuff young man, but either you are a tick off kilter or incapable of facing reality. If you go back and see who (i/e: ISU fans) interjected folly and you then can see how it logically led Iowa fans to certain rebuttals. For example some ISU fan says no one can win NC’s with Iowa recruits which lead to the inevitable.
I have read countless reasonable ISU fans chastise you and similar ISU fans for leading conversations down their logical course and then complaining. Find your mirror and start there.
Chad
PS.............Only a dolt would realistically think you could have a discussion about the validity of in-state recruiting without including both of a states, 2 division 1-A schools.
PPS………..I think you know this but are unwilling to accept the truth of it all.

Iowa has always out recruited ISU in the state, yet I don't see your superior athletes. I also love the fact that every ISU fan now believes you will average 40+ next year. I am actually pretty confident that ISU won't score more than 25 pts next year vs Iowa. I will say after watching the Big 12 defenses this year you do have a chance to score over 40 a few times, but I don't think it will be enough. Though it probably should with all the superior Texas and Florida recruits on that amazing defense.

I really, really hope that you put some money on that with someone before the game. Iowa is going to miss King a whole bunch more than fans want to admit. And someone is really going to have to step up for Fletcher, who had an excellent senior season.

Actually, one of my good friends is a clone fan, and he will wager with me. I will agree we will miss King (who wouldn't) but we are actually pretty deep on the Dline next year with one of our 285 DE moving inside. As far as Fletcher goes, he wasn't even our best corner this year. Speivey was the better of the two, and Prater got high praises from KF as potentially being better than anyone he has had back there in his tenure. I realize Clone fans confidence is high, just like two years ago when you got Chizik and he was going to save the program, but I really have to see it first against good defenses. The teams at the end of the year that your offense lit up were horrible, especially on defense, and you still lost.

Nebraska matched or exceeded Iowa's season win totals every year that decade except one. The game in 1981 that Iowa won was a fluke, especially if you look how the Huskers destroyed them the preceding and following years.

Our goal need to be out recruiting Iowa and every other school that recruits this state and out playing every school that recruits this state. If we beat Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, and K-State we will be well on our way to building a solid program. When we have a solid program then we should set our sights on the Big 12 south. Just my opinion.
