Re: Paul Rhoads
I talked to PR 2 weekends ago. He was very nice and asked me questions that made me feel like he cares about what you are saying. In the many times I met Chiz - it just felt forced. And these meetings are at a work level, although they know I'm also a fan! ;)
Just in case you didn't know... I'm a girl. -

I was very impressed with Gene until all of this went down. But I still think he did what he should've done. Take the opportunity when it comes, especially if you know that was where you wanted to go. Who wouldn't.
Now that that's off my chest, SCREW him! :)

Re: Paul Rhoads
This is good to hear. The couple of times I encountered Gene he was not very friendly and gave the impression he wanted to be somewhere else. Of course I never had occassion to talk to him about anything other than in passing. If I were to see him now, I'd have to ask him if the mailman delivered my package. Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. Re: Paul Rhoads
Only thing Chizik ever did to me was yell at a couple of friends and I for trying to cut through the Jacobson Building during the Shrine Bowl.
Paul Rhoads however, shook those same friends and my hand during a basketball game. Actually coming back down the steps to shake one he missed.
I really think he is a class act.

Now that that's off my chest, SCREW him! :) Yes. Can't blame him for bolting for his dream job. He did ISU a tremendous favor and our program is all the better for it. In retrospect though I think it was a silly decision for him to leave and go to Auburn if it was his dream job. If he truly loved Auburn he would have said thanks but no thanks. It's odd that a guy who loves Auburn so much took the job there and will ultimately destroy their football program. If I was a horrible football coach I definitely wouldn't want to coach and ruin the program at the school I love. Chizdick only loves one thing... HIMSELF!!

Also, not from this post, what is OBC?

Re: Paul Rhoads
I sat next to Coach Herman on a short plane ride from Minneapolis to Des Moines a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed how super nice the guy was. He even gave me his cell phone number. Wow! I then told him how much I drink before games and how like a typical know-it-all fan I have the ability to call plays better than the offensive coordinator. Boy is he going to regret giving me that number. -

Re: Paul Rhoads
Face it - there are VERY FEW college coaches that don't have an engaging personality. If they didn't they would not become a head coach. When I met Chizzlestick for the 1st time I was impressed. I do believe 2 things. Rhoads WANTS to be here AND he knows what it will take to win in Ames. I don't feel either of those things applied to Chizik. I think Auburn was a gracious way out for him. Few other schools would take him w/o winning at ISU and it's a pretty tough program to turn down.
