Defensive Coordinator...my guess!

Wasn't Chizik gonna call the defense at prior to leaving? Then why wouldn't it be safe to assume the Paul Rhoads is the Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator. A guy that just came off being that same roll at his former school would probably be a little hesitant to pass those duties over so soon. After all, defense wins Big XII championships!!!

Just my guess.

Cause he, Paul Rhoads said he was not, today at the Ames/Story county lunch, that's why.

Had you been there, you would now know he said as a DEf Coach, it took every minute, right up to game time, to be prepared for a game, and he was not going try. He said he would handle the special teams himself and be head coach.He also said he would not be involved in calling any offensive or defensive plays as head coach....that's why he hired OC & will hire a DC End of story.

He has already said that there will be a DC and that he will not call plays.

Decent point. But, that's a lot of work for one man to do. Although he may be running most of the defense, its still nice to have a DC to help out in practice and games. It also doesn't hurt to have another defensive minded coach.

Even if PR is going to run the defense himself, he still needs to formally hire a DC. If nothing else for another recruiter and someone who can assist him with the defense.

Based on all that we have gathered, he wants to be a Head Coach and leave the D calling to a DC. One thing I do really like about CPR, among many traits is that he seems to be very methodical, even to everyone's displeasure, well except for me I guess. I'd rather he take his time and not rush it. Then you have the nay sayers indicating that he can't get anyone, which is not the case. His foundation of coaches seem to be very tactical and I think that is good in business, life or sports.

Glad your brother is part of this new era and hope he likes the ride in Ames...it is a great place to live!
