Re: Athletic department confirms DC hire

I don't think I could realistically be any more pleased with our coaching staff at this point

Great job out of everyone involved in making these hires

No need, our new DC also helped put out Mike Jenkins, a first round draft pick that is playing some for the Dallas Cowboys. Great hire.

I really hope you were kidding.
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

So are we getting his son too? Shane Burnham? I saw on a USF website that his son was coming to coach DT's or something. He coaches at Elon in NC. Quite a step up if true.

One time I made my wife play me in NCAA FB 2009 on PS3 and she was Ohio State and I was Elon. She hates video games but I made her play. I couldn't do a thing...I would drop back and immediately get sacked, etc. At one point, I looked over at her and the controller was on her lap and she was reading a magazine! She won like 14-6.

It's a package deal. Wally took the job with the assurance his son would be allowed to come with him to be groomed for the DC position upon retirement. The DC is the second best hire behind Herman, imo.

That is funny!!! So, you lost with tOSU only playing 10 players, and running whatever default play they ended up calling.

Rhoads has gotten it right. He has surrounded himself with great coordinators. That's where the day-to-day coaching and play-by-play game time decisions are mainly made. It appears at first glance that Rhoads possesses the CEO qualities that Chizik only claimed.

I am so happy now that Chizik left our program. I think we will look back, starting as early as next year, and see this as the turning point in ISU football.

Chizik, in contrast, used his fairly large coordinator budget and hired his "buddies" who were very arguably underqualified.

No judgement yet as we haven't even played a game but I really like these two coordinator hires.
Agreed. I am very impressed with the coordinators that Rhoads has hired. As for the DC hiring it was well worth the wait.

As for you comments on Chizdick.... well I can't say that there were any decisions that he made that can be explained or described with more then the 4 following words....

    1. Arrogant
    2. Ignorant
    3. Classless
    4. Hypocritical

Not the same. It's like talking about who will be the next Ozzy guitarist versus talking about Randy Rhoads.

Re: Athletic department confirms DC hire

Wow what a hire! I am always optimistic before every season but the wait this year is gonna be unbearable. Does anyone know about the players USF had? What kind of "stars" did they have. I cant imagine they were pulling in all the four and five star talent down there. The thing that gets me the most excited is that. He did this with roughly the same talent it looks like we have.
