    Channel 5 mentioned two more hires

    Lil Wally Burnham (Shane) as a defensive coach and a TE Coach named Courtney Messingham from MO State.

    Messingham sounded very familiar to me and now I see why, he was the HC of Upper Iowa while I was there. The team was not very good then and he was in a pretty tough spot, recruiting to Fayette, IA and they were transitioning to DII at the time with no conference affiliation at the time. I think he will be a good fit to coach TE's. He was a very nice guy and many of the guys really liked him.

    Messingham is a UNI grad, and was on former UNI and KU coach Terry Allen's staff at Missouri State.

    Wasn't TA an assistant coach at ISU after he was fired from KU?

    I believe so. Shane Burnham did coach ST at Elon, but I believe Rhoads was considering ST to stay "coaching" a little bit.

    So here's basically what we've got for position groups:

    QB: Herman
    RB: Pope
    TE: Messingham
    OL: Bliel
    WR: Wells

    DB: Ash
    LB: W Burnham
    DL: S Burnham/Bray

    ST: Likely one of S Burnham/Rhoads.

    Messingham I believe is a W'loo East grad and QB'd some of the best teams in state history.

    He was at UIU for only 1 year, maybe 2 as they transitioned to D2 and I think quickly realized he was on a sinking ship.
    Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

    Well, he'll have plenty of talent to work with.

    Especially on offense, the role of position coaches hinge much more on what the OC wants. With Herman running an especially gimmicky offense, Messingham will more than likely have to adapt to what Herman wants anyways.

    Either way, I hope we actually throw to the TE this year.
