Fortunately, as a 14' long jumper, Jeremy doubtless has some hops to help make up for that.
I can jump 14' and I'm 40...I'm a man!
Short guys can never make an impact in college athletics
Ellis Hobbs, JJ Moses, Seneca Wallace, Bob Sanders, RB Wagner (who was maybe 5'5)
Aclone is right I already made an assessment on him earlier. I'm hardly a professional scout but Iowa has had a lot of top shelf Lbers so I sort of know what I'm seeing as a result. Still waiting for them to call me for a staff position..........
With the pandering out of the way, I was very impressed with Jackson. Very quick in the box and diagnosed the play very well. Shot the gap very quickly, and could get to the sideline, though he did miss the play on occasion.
Didn't see him cover anyone and needs to get a little bigger. Missed a tackle early but didn't miss another. Very confident and his team had a lot of talent on it, with a 4 star rber going to Minne, a 5 star QB going to LSU and their 2nd string kid had about 4 carries for 200 yards.
PS...........does seem to be some thought he could go MLB route though no one has verified this.
I think you should be. Seriously I have got to the point that I get about as excited for Iowa's lower rated kids as I do the others. Mostly because of their track record for finding talent.
I'm not sure you can consider Jackson a lower rated guy as he was a 3 star, but I think you guys and us have some two star kids that are studs.
Iowa has 5 guys in particular Brown, Hyde, Getz, Ngoumou and Shane Dibona who might just play immediately at positions. where we aren't really needing immediate help. Ngoumou in particular is an anazzing WR that makes you wonder what it takes to be a 3 or 4 star.
You guys also got what appear to be some studs in the 2 star pkg.
With the new staff it's hard to say who would be able to play right away from the '09 class. I do think Jackson, Knott and Klein all have a chance to make an immediate impact as we need upgrades in our front 7 immediately. Aside from the JUCOs, Jennert and Blanton on offense could make their way into the 2 deeps since we need a deeper core of WR with the new offense.
And here's that thread:
You might want to take a peek through the depths of this forum.
Of every recruit we signed, other than JUCO's, there is no doubt that I am the most excited to see what Princeton Jackson can do. At 6'1" 210 he has the perfect frame to add 10-20 lbs. of muscle and become an exact replica of Tyrone McKenzie. He certainly is quick to the ball, from everything I have seen in highlights. He also seems to wrap up well and explode through the carrier. I have high hopes for this guy.
It is threads like this and you, ribs and Cy fan in particular that makes this forum the best. It doesn't always have to be anti Iowa or anti ISU. Even when it is (yes it is fun to banter back and forth) it can certainly be respectful and insightful. For the most part people over here do better than most.
As for your thoughts on Hyde, I concur and put Brown in the same boat. Brown was a 3-year starter at a newer/sub .500 school, which is what kept him under the radar I imagine.
Ngoumou I would agree was likely a grade issue and he may not be thru the clearing house yet. If he is I like him to play maybe even before Davis. If you saw his vids he IS a STUD.
I think my favorite prep signee for ISU was Aaron Moore, especially if he winds up back on offense. We desperately need more athletic O-Linemen. However, there was a lot to like about a lot of guys, and I don't think that this will be a class that just washes away after a couple of years, like some recent classes.
