10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
I was in the mood for some college football news, although it seems between now and August it's pretty much nothing but griping. Here's an example, although I must say I agree with pretty much everything. Lots of things could be done to make a great game better.
Mark Schlabach: State of hate - ESPN

Re: 10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
I hate ESPN and game day that every weekend seems to be at an SEC school.
I hate the pre-season football poll.
I hate the down time until August.

I think it would be a lot more interesting if they branched out and went to different places. It seems like the only do the following:
1) ranked SEC games or rivalries
2) Michigan OSU
3) Red River
4) USC/Notre Dame
It would be cool to see them do Iowa/Iowa State, Colorado/Colorado State, Washington/Washington State, West Virginia/Pitt, you know nasty rivalries that people know about but don't get crazy pub.
Re: 10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
I wish ESPN would do the Army-Navy game EVERY year. I think they have done it before but if you want to praise college "student/athletes" who's a better choice than those guys...
Re: 10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
I definitely agree about the conference championships and non conference
scheduling.
Re: 10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
I don't know what you're watching, but Gameday Does branch out, they went to Florida A&m game and always go to a game like harvard/yale or some random small school rivalry game... oh and they were in the big 12 (south) like 4 out of 7 consecutive weeks last year.. (OU-Texas, Texas-Tech, OU-OSU, OU-Tech
they wont come to ames because i-state has stunk and no one cares if they beat iowa outside of us..

True....but a guy can dream cant he....
Re: 10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
It sure is annoying when Little 11 fans brag about getting two BCS teams in.....a conf. championship game would make that more fair.

I thought they covered Oregon-Oregon St this year (maybe I'm wrong about that)

They basically threw Florida A&M a bone on that one - visit the token black college, make ourselves look good. ESPN was really in town for Florida St, who was playing across town later that day.

Would have to add a 12th team, and none of the schools that would make sense to add would want to leave their respective conferences. Besides, why have a conference championship game when they system you're in now works so well? It's worked great so far.
Re: 10 Things I Hate About You (college football)
What I hate about College Football is that Iowa State isn't consistently ranked in the top 25

Would never happen, but Notre Dame seems the obvious choice on that one.
Speaking of, Notre Dame is another thing I hate about college FB. They will always get pub just because they're Notre Dame, nose stuck too high in the air to join a conference, and (nowadays) they suck, and it still doesn't change the first two statements.

Right now Notre Dame football has an exclusive contract with NBC, a contract with the BCS that guarantees them a spot if they finish 8th or better (I think it's 8th), and they get to keep all that money to themselves. It'd be a hard sell.
I would think Rutgers or Pitt would be more likely, and they fit the academic profile as well.

Why would the Big 10 (11) change if they do almost always get 2 in... there is no incentive to. The NCAA should make the decision on either having a conference champ game or not. That way it is fair. Until that happens, the big 10 will almost always have 2 teams in.
