I saw this today too. It's not surprising. Hopefully he can prove himself and climb up the list in a couple of years.

Poor guy, he's got kids to feed.
He is the newest coach, I'm sure we'll take care of him in the future.

Re: Rhoads lowest paid.........
This doesn't and shouldn't surprise. He is brand new and at a school that is probably the lowest on the football food chain (outside of Baylor).
On the bright side, he should be able to move up to middle of the pack with a bowl win or 2! Yep, this thread has just been pwned. -
Re: Rhoads lowest paid.........

Lets hope this isn't a "you get what you pay for" type of deal.

Re: Rhoads lowest paid.........
I remember one of the first things Pollard did was give McCarney an raise to bring our football head coach salary to middle of the pack in the Big12 and raised it over 1 million for the first time in school history. These salaries have just gone out of control in the past few years.
I'm going to have to look that up.

Heck if Stoops goes undefeated, it still costs OU almost $300,000 per win. . .

Iowa State Head Football coach Dan McCarney is state of Iowa's latest Millionaire. McCarney has been given a pay-raise that brings his annual compensation to $1.1 million and is guaranteed through June of 2010.
Dan McCarney has a 52-77 overall record and is in his 11th season at Iowa State. McCarney is now the sixth highest paid football coach in the Big XII conference after being in the 11th and 12th position for several years. This latest pay-raise follows an increase for his assistants that was approved in April of this year. These salaries are out of control if we have gone for 1.1 million being sixth in the conference to 1.2 million be last in 3 years. We would have to double Rhoads salary in order to get to sixth.
