Re: Spring Game Photos
Thank you for your hard work 22.
There are a couple of photos in this group that really are excellent pictures.
Good job out out of you, and thanks again for your time.

Re: Spring Game Photos
I like pic #2 with the jump ball. Too bad the ball got clipped up top. Then a nice portrait crop would really tighten it up.
You must have a nice lense for that. I tried to photos of my daugthers soccer game this morning and was having trouble getting enough light. What'd you use?

Ah, that would do the trick. F2.8 where I'm just using my f3.5. I was tempted to pull out my fixed 50mm 2.4, but wanted to try the zoom.
Anywhom, nicely done.

Re: Spring Game Photos
I thought about renting a 1.4x for this weekend but decided against it. Certainly would have helped.
These are miles better than the ones I took last year with my 28-135, most of those were too far away and out of focus.
I shot at 2.8 and 3.2 most of the day.

LOL, you maxed out at 3.2 yet I barely hit 3.5. I average more around 4-4.5.
With that lense of yours, what shutter speed did it give you? Were you able to jumpt to 250 - or even need to? I bet 150 was probably enough.

Re: Spring Game Photos
With little noise? Wow you must have had plenty of light then.
On a side note, interesting to see that they played with their actual uniforms on and just not practice jersey's. Originally Posted by ISUFan22 Most were between 1/1000 and 1/2000. ISO 400. Re: Spring Game Photos
The light was ok, it was overcast most of the time but that is actually ideal. Was nice to get the sun out at the end, especially for the head shots I took, like using the sun as a rim light, such as the shot of Bo.
The 40D is a very good body for noise at higher ISO settings. I've got some natural light portraits I shot at 1600 that showed minimal noise.
