Re: Baseball or Football
I love both sports, but the older I get the more I like baseball.
These are the reasons why.
The weather is great most of the season.
It's such a great social event to attend. You can kick back, talk business or life, have a few beer and do it in normal tone of voice. You can do all that and still take in the game at your leisure.
You can tickets most anytime and also go during the work week to games.

Fantasy baseball is better than fantasy football.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Baseball or Football
Football is clearly more popular today. Historically, I think baseball is probably much more popular.
Football is MADE for TV, and that's a large part of it's appeal to modern society. Baseball is a sport that was really made to attend and doesn't translate as well to TV, IMO.
I love going to baseball games. (I also love football games...), but I'd much rather watch football on TV vs. Baseball.

Re: Baseball or Football
Football is easily more popular. Just watch ESPN, Football gets the most coverage of any sport easily. Even during the off season, they talk about the NFL Draft more than baseball.
Unless you live in St. Louis or maybe New York, Football dominates every major City.

Professional baseball plays an 81-home game season because they can draw enough fans for reasonable attendance throughout a season of that many games to make money. Beyond MLB, there is also minor league pro baseball that draws significant fans as well.
There is nothing stopping the NFL from playing multiple games a week. They could increase their roster sizes to accommodate multiple games per week. Why don't they do it? Because they can't make money doing it. Why can't they make money doing it? Because fans won't come to watch the games.
Even for the existing 8-home games per year, why aren't NFL football stadiums the gargantuan 160,000+ seat stadiums that you see in NASCAR? Because fan attendance won't support such stadiums.

So what metric are you using to declare that the NFL is more popular than MLB? MLB trounces the NFL in overall attendance. Revenue wise, the last numbers I found showed the NFL with $6.5 billion in revenue, while MLB had $6.1 billion, so they are pretty close there. The NFL has two more teams, so they are again pretty close. Just curious...

The Super Bowl is far superior to the World Series.
Football is more popular in high school and college.
The NFL draft is followed, no one even knows when the MLB draft is taking place.
