If you haven't ever done so, go to Iowa State University football official site and check out the letter written by Marc Cortez which McCarney read to the team right before the Iowa State-Iowa game in 1998.

Here is a link. You may have to scroll down to look for it, but it's worth it. Besides, you can relive some of ISU's glory days that way.

They should have that letter, along with Jack Trice's letter, blown up somewhere so the players could read it every day.
