    Tyler Lorenzen makes a reversal

    Tyler Lorenzen left ISU 3 years ago largely because he didn't want to play TE. Turns out that he has now signed a free agent contract with the Jaguars.....as a TE.

    He wasn't better than meyer... but if he was decent, we shouldn't have moved him to TE... either way, good to see an Iowa kid getting a shot. Good luck Tyler. Hope he smokes them and get a job playing a game that he loves.

    What am I missing here? The NFL sees him as a TE. When opponents figured out his limitations as a QB, his performance dropped off his senior year. I believe that he even lost his starting position. And we are to believe that Mac's staff was wrong in trying to make him a TE?

    He would probably be getting a shot at the NFL in either case, but if he had committed his entire career to TE it might have been as a draft pick rather than a free agent long shot.

    T-Lo was never beat out at QB. He was injured for the second half of his senior season. He made the right decision. The kid wanted to play QB and he got the shot at UCONN and played it pretty well. Was he better than Meyer, no! Was he better than almost every backup QB we had at the time, probably! He is a very good athlete and deserves the shot at TE. Who is to say what would have happened if he would have stayed at ISU. He might have ended up transferring regardless with Chizik coming in. I think he made the right decision for himself and wish him the best. Great guy, great character, great discipline.
