I think it would be cool if Iowa and ISU were in the same conference.
But IMO, if the big 11 needs one more team, it would make alot of sense to pick up Notre Dame. For one, because they arent in a conference, and two, because they fit perfectly geographically.

I know it is unpopular, but I would love to be in the Big 10. If we still had the Big 8 I might not say that, but we already sold out with that deal.
The Big Ten will only add a school that brings revenue potential to the conference. ISU would not do that.
If you were a Big Ten team, why would you add a school like ISU that doesn't add more $$$ to the rest, just makes everyone's slice of the pie smaller? You wouldn't.

Why - because they already have the biggest financial contract for football, that one contract funds a lot of sporting activities not to mention allows them to go out and buy out contracts like Tyrone Willinghams, and soon to be Charlie Weis!!!!!!Quote:

I still stand on my previous post that until the big10 learns to count to 11 they should not be adding more schools..... maybe take one away, but not add.
Notre Dame will never go for that deal. Much like the article mentions, only a boycott of B10 schools and the loss of their TV contract would weaken them. Currently they have an endowment of around 7 billion dollars. Notre Dame will never have to worry about money ever again. Their only achillies heel is the loss of relevance. Take that away and they will compromise.
ND won't join the big 10...ever.
Big 10 won't let ISU join....ever.
If they are serious about wanting to get a 12 team, they will have to "reach" for someone like Pitt, maybe Louisville, Possibly they could convice Mizzou but I doubt it.
Right now, Iowa State is in a much better conference.
Notre Dame is a more likely candidate because of its location and current conference status (none).
