Plus, I can never understand why "I should lighten up" when anything preceived as a "humor" piece mocks Iowa State. For example, the Chris Hassel debacle. Okay, a little bit of getting kicked in the stones was sort of funny, but he went a bit overboard for my taste.

Screw that "lighten up it's only a joke" statement.

I found it funny. I liked when he stopped answering the questions and just went on his rant about ISU making it to a decent bowl game. Best part.

I agree. We were not a good football team last year. But all he was saying is that we suck. He wasn't witty or insightful about it at all. I didn't find it funny.

The joke wasn't about how bad ISU was as much as the optimism of Peterson and other Cyclone fans. He mentions 6 wins and a Bowl berth. (I'm guessing these were part of the actual chat.) Then they played on that and slowly built his blind optimism into ISU going to the Rose Bowl. Cyclones are nothing if not optimists. I'm not saying everyone has to find it funny, but I get the idea that many on here completely missed what the author was poking fun at.
